  • $5.99 for a Marx toy replica of a German 88 from Toy Solider depot.
  • $4.51 with shipping for a Basilisk Shield off eBay.
  • Leftover Leman Russ Nova cannon from my bitz box.
  • Some round doll eyes for details.
  • Considerable work filling seam gaps.
  • .22 long rifle empty cases from a day of shooting.
  • So-so photos from my cheap point & shoot camera.

  • Yeah, I know. The cannon shells in the box are not to scale. Like Burt Gummer, "just doing what I can with what I got".

Everything looks great, except for the size difference in that ammo box compared to the shells

The use of .22 cases is a great idea, but they look too clean. No way would they be that shiny and new after handling, firing and then being slung onto the mud.

Cool idea, if I was building a board/terrain setup for my IG I would definitely steal the idea of cheap historical toy artillery + IG trappings.

I like it a lot. I want to make my own one now. Are the shells from the Artillery battery real bullet shells?? they look like shells for a point 2.2 Target Rifle that I use at a shooting range.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I am starting to wonder if the shell being loaded is a real bullet.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Yep,it is. I'll most likely will replace it with a Baneblade cannon shell bought at Bitz Barn that's in the mail, so no one at the game table get nervous about live ammo being present--Though that could give me a psychological advantage!

Here's the original cannon from Toy Soldier Depot. Pretty nice for $5.99.

Yes they would. Afterall, the cases themselves were handled, fired and then thrown to the ground. The shell cases would only look dirty if they'd been rolled in mud as they are so shiny that dirt doesn't tend to stick to them.

I collected these .22 cases three weeks after they lay in the dirt, mud, and snow from the firing range. Some have minor discoloring, but yeah, brass shells stay pretty shiny for quite a while.
