Battleship Captain

Greetings, Ladies and Gentlemen.
I'm quite grateful you've chosen to stumble into my humble forum post. Within these pages you will find a lore-rich, lovingly crafted, 'fluffy' force poised to defend the imperium of man. I speak, of course, about the Imperial Guard. My regiment of choice will be, as titled, the Elysian Drop Troops. More specifically, they are the Elysian 105th Skyborne.
If you so choose to follow my progress in this thread, you will find I'm a bit of a Fluff-addict. I by no means request, desire, or intend you to read, skim, or pay attention to any of the fluff or background I post, but nonetheless I post it for anyone that cares to enjoy it alongside my actual forces. I find both the models and their story to be art in themselves, and offer both to tend the desires of such aficionados.
As I said, feel free to brush past these next ramblings, but for my own selfish desires I'd like to include them in this blog.
God once said 'Before fluff comes my own narrations.'
These are those narrations.
As I said earlier, my intention is to make an Elysian Regiment of my very own. Being Forge World models, this is a hellish endeavour. Hellish, but rewarding, so I have chosen to do so regardless. Their overall theme will be my own reimagining/interpretation of the Halo series' Orbital Drop Shock Troopers. As such, they will be an anti-xeno regiment overall, eventually accumulating enough forces to be adaptably multipurpose.
I am starting my force as follows:
My core forces will be multipurpose, with my extended force units specialized (Anti-MEQ, Anti-Horde, Anti-Mechanized) so that I will always have an organized base-force and depending on what army I will be playing I will just swap out my specialized units.
My Multipurpose units are: CCS, Ground Scanner, Storm Troopers, PCS, Infantry Squads, Valkyries, Vendettas, Vultures, Thunderbolts, Lightnings, and a single fluffy Veteran Squad (with Sniper, Grenade Launcher, Flamer, and Missile Launcher).
These units will be the same loadout every time, though obviously certain ones will be excluded dependent on enemy and point values.
My Specialized units are: Special Weapons Squads, Heavy Weapons Squads, Drop Sentinels, Tauros and Tauros Venators, Tarantula Guns, and the rest of my Veterans.
I do not magnetize; I think it detracts from the artistic quality of the models. So If, say, I need a SWS of snipers and an SWS of Meltagunners, I will have one of each and choose to include one or the other depending on the specific battle. That means I will have severan Tauros', Sentinels, and so forth. I want to maintain the Regimental feel, as if the Colonel is choosing who to deploy with what weapon and vehicle support.
Right now, I am purchasing and outfitting my specialized units for Anti-Tyranid combat, and plan to diversify over time.
Additionally, as many know the Elysians have severe shortcomings in staying power, so will be supplemented with my simultaneously in-progress Thracian 85th Assault Regiment, who will be posted here as well, and follow the same overall Halo-Theme of my regiments, taking a colour scheme much like the game's Marines. This blog will not be fast; it will not have daily or weekly posts; and it may have odd organization at times. This is because I am at university. It is more of a place for me to catalogue and document my army's progress, while garnering any critiques and comments the community has to offer. Without any more delay: Fluff.
The Elysian 105th Skyborne, Headed by Colonel Alexander Neile
Stationed aboard the Retribution Class Battleship "Lament of Dawn", Crewed by the Imperial Navy servicemen under Commodore-Captain Savaric Barnaby
Situation Report:
Paired with the Thracian 85th Assault Regiment, the 105th has been dispatched to deal with disturbances on Pavonis VI of Ultima Segmentum, suspect to be related to a splinter of Hive Fleet Kraken. The Elysian Strike Force will be working largely from Valkyries in Close-Air action and Low-Altitude insertion in concert with Tauros FAV support. High Altitude Deep-Strikes are inadvisable against the Xenos suspected to be present. Ground forces will be in sync with Imperial Navy support from Thunderbolts and Marauder Destroyer Aircraft, with Lightning Fighters on station to provide Air-Support should any such be required. The Thracian 85th will be linebacking this operation, supporting the 105th's rear-element and providing heavy reinforcements should the forward-element be engaged with large Xeno forces. Commodore-Captain Barnaby has advised all commanding forces that Neutralization of any threats are first priority; Salvaging the hives and civilian protection are taken into account secondary. This means Exterminatus is an option, should a large enough threat be identified. As such, Scout and Support elements should not place priority on any high-value areas. Pavonis VI is expendable; this is a Threat-Identification mission, with secondary Search and Destroy prerogatives.
Reported from Aquila Lander mid-drop to Forward Operating Base 'Dorn' on the Surface of Pavonis VI
