So with storm lords and hopefully soon to be FAQ'd solar pulses the old 1 point search light seems like a good buy. (probably always was with DOW to tell the truth, but much more value now)

Thoughts on how to handle in your turn only night fighting and hell DOW too?

I will start. Scouts with searchlights, such as the BAAL or a scout sentinel or two. Use your scout move to have a much better chance of lighting up something for your army to shoot at.

Any other ideas?

What are you hoping that's "Soon to be FAQ'd" because there is nothing wrong with either of those.

As a marine player, I gotta say never forget the search lights. In a pitched battle fight vs a solar pulse they can be good, but in DoW that first rhino you deploy can searchlight something- then the rest of your army can shoot instead of being out of night fighting range. The humble searchlight turns DoW first turn volley from "It's night fighting, he won't be able to shoot far" into "Ow oh god my face".

I am referring to Solar Pulse only stating that it may be used at the "start of any turn".(pg84 necron dex) As it does not specifically say game turn it allows a Cron player to take their turn without night fight then "pulse" at the beginning of their opponents turn. I do not think this was either intended or balanced. I am a DE and BA player primarily but imagine Tau or IG and for at least 2 turns having your enemy in the bright sun shooting at you while in your shooting phase the darkness falls.

I am looking for the FAQ somewhere; if I recall correctly GW clarified that any reference to a "turn" is a player turn not game turn. Unless of course my memory has left me.

Turn in 5th edition 40k has always meant 'player turn' unless specified differently. This has been (needlessly) clarified in the FAQ. In WHFB it means the exact opposite. This may be why you're confused.

Ok, this is perfectly balanced, and the way it has always been. This sounds like typical whining of a new codex. It's also very clear in the wording, that it is meant for player turn.

IG have Searchlights for free on all of their stuff, and Tau can take Blacksun filters.

Instead of hoping something gets FAQ'd because you don't want to adapt to it, how about learning some new tactics?

I was merely stating an opinion in a non inflammatory matter. (unlike your inflammatory response) As to the OP it was a statement of tactics to use and solicitation of other ideas with the assumption that it may be FAQ'd (by the way the FAQ is out and the pulse was NOT FAQ'd thus the solicitation of other tactics was a good idea and an attempt to "learn new tactics")

One would expect a more productive discussion from a DCM.

^^Actually, since the whole game is supposed to simulate simultaneous action from both forces it doesn't make much sense for the Necrons to not be affected imo

Not true I'm afraid, they cost 1 point on sentinels and hellhound variants which is a real pain in the ass.

Like what, everything else in the dex except bolt weapons is divisible by 5, what's the point of these costing one point?
