Subject: Options for Apothecary?

The Command squad entry in the Marine Dex says 'any veteran may replace their bolt pistol and/or bolt pistol with...'
However, I was wondering whether an Apothecary (as it has the same stats as a veteran) is also able to buy these upgrades?
I have a feeling that I'm smudging the text here a bit, but I decided it was worth asking.

Just because they have the same stats, does not make the apothecary a veteran.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

So no? And I know that Identical Stats doesn't mena they are the same, it's just it seems weird that the others can take a TH, SS and a Flamer (for example) and the apothecary is stuck with a chainsword and bolt pistol/boltgun.

An Apothecary is not a Veteran so no, he can't take the upgrades for veterans.

Your not the first with this question. Many people try to and even model upgrades on their apothecaries and then they find out such a thing is impossible.
The codex's aren't clear that you cannot upgrade the apothecary, but then again they don't give you express permission to do so. If you aren't told you can, assume you can't.
