So without knowing how certain units will perform in the current game, here is my first draft of a VC list. Nothing is set in stone yet as I haven't bought anything besides my vampire himself. This is all based on my first impressions from the new book. Let me know what you think.

Not a bad list.
I just don't know about Master Strike+Red Fury, they seem counterproductive to each other. Anything you could HKB with the strike, you could just beat down with a GW, or your 8 str attacks.

Cause the chicks dig it...
2000 (RT era Thousand Sons), 2000 (Undivided), 3000 (demons)
2500 (Skaven), 3000! (Chaos Dwarf), 2500 (Warriors of Chaos)

I think Master Strike is better as a 'why not' upgrade on a hero Vampire who doesn't have any extra attacks or strength. It has about the same chance of working as on a Lord and you give up a lot less.

Since Hellish Vigour allows you to re-roll to wound rolls, could you re-roll a 'successful' to wound roll of 5 in hopes of getting a six?

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

No game of chess can be won without pawns, and this may prove to be a very long game.

Then again, if the Lord actually manages to HKB anything (rather unlikely), he'd get as many attacks to his Red Fury as they had wounds remaining... Though I don't know whenever this would be useful. HKB is best used against monsters, so those extra attacks would go wasted as the opponent is already dead by the time you get them..

I think your current list lacks a "theme", I dont mean a fluffy theme. It just seems like a mix and match of random units without any special synergie.

Additionally, it lacks zombies and crypt horrors, both of which are bat gak crazy now.

I think that could be positive too. I think this army should be viewed as a toolbox - It has a little of everything to be able to deal with everything. As much as it doesn't have any specific strength, it also lacks a specific weakness.

How are zombies crazy good?
I see they're a lot better now, but not amazing. What am I missing?

Zombies can be summoned in game, no point in wasting core requirement points on them for what they do. The points are better spent making the skeletons and ghouls larger.

I'm at a toss up between crypt horrors and vargheists. I'll end up buying both and trying them both out.

The VC MI have very different roles and I consider both to be quite good.

Vargheist have more issues though and can be a liability, horrors on the other hand are amongst the toughest units in game currently, an extremely solid choice why I like them more from the two. T5, 5+ rege and the ability to summon 5 of them(edit: erm, I mean 5 wounds ofc ) back per lvl4 cast makes a big unit extremely solid. Add some ASF, reroll to hits/wounds to the mix and you have a unit that wipes the floor with white lions and such

Good points, I'll see about a rewrite. It's a pain in the ass when I'm so reliant on Army Builder which doesn't have the new book rules yet. Having to hand write lists takes me back though.

I think you are talking about Ghoul MI

On the list, I think it is pretty solid, only there are two issues I can think of:
Hexwraiths, they are inferior to the other special choices by quite a distance (imo), T3 and W1 and a 6+ save makes them quite vulnerable, even if they are ethereal, even a level 1 wizard with a magic missile or direct damage (firebellies and bright wizards come right to mind) can bring down the unit on turn 1, which makes them quite a worthless point sink imo, although we will all probably need to play a lot more games to see how they fair. (I reckon without the max unit size of 10, a horde of them right down the middle of the army would be pretty tops).
Crypt Ghouls, not really worth it now, especially since they went up in cost, are they good? Undoubtedly, however skeletons and zombies are so much better now, especially considering both zombies and skeletons can bring standards which are essential to the blood and glory scenario, and since they are cheaper per model are much better at denying points when combined with IoN. You might be better off dropping the unit for another unit of skeletons and/or buffing up your two current units.

Just my $0.02

I agree, after looking at Carpe Noctem, it appears that ghouls are out of fashion in the new book due to cost, even if they are the better aggressive core choice. More skeletons it is, and perhaps a zombie horde.

I'm brainstorming a revision/overhaul as we speak.
