Alright folks, haven't posted on here for a while so thought I'd let you see what I've been working on over the past month or so. I've made a blog on another forum so some of you may recognize these guys. I only have a handful left to paint. 6 Custodians with Halberds and 4 Psycannons and a Techmarine. I know Custodians as Grey Knights has been done to death but I wanted to have my own take them on them and see what I could come up with and I'm very happy with the result so far. All the guys who've seen this army have gave me excellent feedback and a few have even said it's one of the best Custodian armies they've seen.
Very happy chappy!
Decided to use this model as my Librarian purely because of the pose and the excuse to make an extra long Force Sword.
Dreadknights
Stormravens: I touched up the gold on them because they looked a little plain compared tot he rest of the army. I'm still thinking about adding some more details to them and possibly adding prayers on the wings? I completely forgot to mention that the wings were magnetised for easy transportation
Squad shots and individual model photos
Eristede Kell
Dreadnoughts
Hope you guys like them and I will update when I have finished. This army is pretty big and is over 3k, it uses the Grey Knight codex and I usually run Draigowing which seems to be working great with me with good winning streak so far.
Any questions or anything then feel free to ask.

Custode Dreadknights? First I've seen that. Looks pretty interesting although most custode armies I see have them in terminator armor, not power armor. Not saying it looks bad, just different
I'm sure I've tried to reply on this thread a few times today.
I think these look great, I especially like the Dreadknights which is amazing because I really dislike those models, and yet they seem to fit this, somehow.
I want some Scibor stuff to do something like this, although not on this scale...
The Scibor stuff is pretty good but the only problem I have with it is it only comes in packs of 4 which means I need to buy extra for a 5 man squad.
I'm really happy with how these guys tuned out and more happy that the army is now finished and it only took me a month to paint it.
I'll get some army shots up tomorrow if I remember to take photos and share the full army with you guys.

That's the army completed after a month of painting, building and converting. Just wanna thank everyone who left comments, criticsm and gave me the push to finish them. I am gonna change the Emperors sword for a bigger one I think as possibly add flames to get it more in line with the artwork.

I don't wanna blow my own trumpet but I thought there would be more aswell. Guys who've seen my army in person have said it looks amazing and a few mentioned it was the best Custodes army they'd seen yet.
Maybe the photos aren't doing them justice or some people just have different tastes?

I really like this army, but I would like to see you expand it even more and then upload the pics. I 'd like to see a tabletop of this army, so get painting/building!
Also can you tell me how you did the gold? I always like to hear how painters deal with this sometimes awkward colour.
Not at all dude, I've spent a fortune on this army and trying to avoid spending more money. I've spent almost 500.00 pounds on this. I'd maybe add 2 more Ven Dreads but that's all I plan on doing atm.
The gold was easy to do dude.
Tin Bitz, Dwarf Bronze, Burnished Gold, and a wash of Sepia then a final highlight of Burnished Gold mixed with Mithril Silver.

Good stuff, very inspiring. If I hadn't already begun my GK army and have 2k+ points painted I would jump on your Custodes bandwagon. The BASG bodies are perfect for Custodes, kudos.
Automatically Appended Next Post: On a side note. It seems GK armies with alternate paint schemes get less comments and views than other armies. Mine in the P&M Showcase had fewer comments than my thread in the same forum about my SW Bjorn and Dreads.

They do fit much better like this! I never liked the model much either generally
They should get +1 on all stats for being Custodes

Love em, great work! Always interesting to see what people do when they start a custodes army. I like this one alot so Kudos to you sir!
"You have ruled this galaxy for ten thousand years, yet have little of account to show for you efforts. Order. Unity. Obedience. We taught the galaxy these things, and we shall do so again."
I like the Dreadknight model but the lack of poses is a bit rubbish but other than that a great kit, the Guardian Spears for them are just cocktail stirrers I had lying around my flat and I ordered Wraithlord tabards to break up the gold.
Well it only made sense but to use the Paladin rules for the Custodians, they are the Emperors personal bodyguard afterall and I just had to make him a counts as Draigo.
It was working out roughly £60 per 5 man squad because of the different kits I ahd to use but yes it was Sanguinary Guard, Grey Knights, Scibor Heads & Shoulders and the Raven Guard Bolters from Forgeworld. I need to make one more Custodian for the other squad so I have 2 units of 10.
I understand what you mean about the basing but my thing is adding height to models, not modelling for advantage but purely for a making them stand out and look good aswell.
I'm still pretty surprised that I managed to paint this army in a month and take them to a few tournaments in the next few weeks.

Planning it wasn't too hard, I knew what I wanted in my army but knowing how to do it. Yeah I did a little research using artwork but the paintjob was based off my Sanguinary Guard army but with a few changes and highlighting.
I've made the army more competitive because I'm planning to take part in tournaments and make my Draigowing standout from the rest.
I sold my Tyranid army to fund half of this army and the rest came as I went along and I'm glad my hard work has paid off.

I gave the Emperor a longer sword with flames made from Green Stuff and the plastic flames off the LOTR Balrog model.

Some of it I really like, some I don't. The huuuge shoulder pads on some of the normal guys, especially the librarian, looks weird. The Emperor's armor is supposed to be power/artificer style armor, not terminator. The dreadnought autocannon conversions seem a bit wack.
The assassin, dreadknight, stormraven, and general conversions look cool though.

The Polito form is dead, insect. Are you afraid? What is it you fear? The end of your trivial existence?

Props. You made dreadknights look cool, something I thought impossible Great paint job.
From 3++
"Because your captain is smarter than Belial and all templar commanders ever, he doesn't discard his iron halo when you dress him up as a terminator. Remember this."
I actually mention that in the video that I tried to mke them look cool.
I know the pads are a little big but I think it makes them stand out and I know the Emperor is mean't to have more ornate armour but I didn't wanna have him the size of a Custodian.
