Just wondering who else is like me.. If my model has a slot or tab under the feets, I'll cut it off and file the bottom of the shoes down flat, then I'll fill in the slot in the base with greenstuff, or use a different base that doesn't have a slot at all, then I just glue the feet on as is. I did this for 40K, fantasy, warmachine, whatever. But, when it comes to bigger bases where the feet have a little peg, I'll usually keep the peg on there and drill a hole for it in the base, but that's usually just because the bigger models don't want to stand on their own 2 feet as much.

So how about you? Do you put your slots in slotta bases?

Well for the old metal models i would. They are heavy and need support.
But genrally yeah. so they can have better supports.

Depends on what i'm gonna do with basing too, but I generally clip the tabs off and pin the feet after any reposing that needs doing. That way you get a good secure mount to the base, but with the freedom that clipping tabs offers.

I would never directly glue a mini to the base unless plastic-to-plastic. They are much more susceptible to damage and snapping if you don't pin them also.

hmm, I never bother pinning the feet, I just glue them on the base with super glue and in my too many years I think I've only had a model snap off only once or twice, and then it was easy enough to just glue him right back in place again. maybe I've just been lucky.

I also cut the tabs off but I throw out or trade away the slot bases. The only exception were the Skaven from the IoB set. There are just too many for me to do that with.

Cut off the tabs and pin to the base. Which is going to be a stone cold pain in the backside with the gaunts and gene stealers I have in my to be painted pile.

Generally cut them off and file down, but there's only one exception I've found, the old metal Pink Horrors. Most of them prance around on one foot, one tiny foot, thats pretty hard to pin. I'm just keeping the tabs on them and just use slots

Yeah there are a few where I kept the tabs, like the gaunts jumping where it's barely the tip of the hoof touching the base.. and also metal chaos raptors & swooping hawks. For the most part though, if a model has his 2 feet on the ground I'll usually just chop the tab off

I usually always use the slottas, unless the figure looks goofy.

No reason for me not to use them, as I have but a handful of older metal models with tabs that have rather static poses, anyway. A good number of my models came from AoBR and I'm not getting overly fancy with the basing, so again there's really no reason not to use the slottas.

I can see chopping them off for the sake of reposing or fancy basing that requires finishing before the model is attached, but beyond that it seems like you'd just be making more work for yourself (why cut off a tab to use a pin unless absolutely necessary?).
