Hi,

just found out that today, the GW webstore has taken down all Imperial Armour books by Forge World (and the Warhammer Forge book). I checked UK, USA and Germany. Bad news, as I was waiting for IA11 being available there.

Hey Kroothawk

I just looked at the GW web site and they have taken down the category for them, but if you do a search for them, they still have them.

Yes, but any click on them leads you to the front page, so you can't order them anymore there.
Edit: Well, only for the first currently, but I think they are in the process of taking them all down.

They bloody well better do because I have been puting off IA11 until GW have it to avoid the stupit postage rates!

The Blue shirts at a few GW stores near me seem to be under the impression they will be getting it but who knows?

Seems to be official and not a software error. Although the mail order folks don't have an official statement yet, they just know these are not available anymore.

Could this be related to the rumors that FW are updating past IA books for 6th?

I guess it is a reaction to rising sales at Forge World and declining sales in GW's core business

That would be unfortunate. I guess what's good for the goose isn't necessarily good for the gander?

This seems fairly unusual, I asked my local GW manager about IA11 and he read off an email to me which said to expect them arriving mid-late January.

Umm... I can access all but "Imperial Armour Apocalypse Second Edition"...

"Imperial Armour Apocalypse Second Edition" takes me to the main page, but all others takes me to their description page..... tempting me to buy them...lol

Why would they take them down? What purpose does it serve?

I have never had a problem ordering IA books directly from Forge World. The postage is actually not that bad when ordering a single book, and gets to my house on the west coast of the U.S.A. in less than a week.

So they first promote being able to get FW books easier. Now they pull them. Man GW is just crazy.

A little birdy suggested to me that there's a reason for it: namely, them potentially becoming a "regular stock" item.

As it stands now, they basically get small numbers of the books--and when they sell out, they have to wait a few months to get more stock.

Aren't they already a 'regular stock' item? I mean, you can buy them in GW stores.

Not really a 'regular stock' item. They were more akin to splash releases.

One of the GWUS guys explained it on their Twitter at one point:
They got shipped a finite amount. When the webteam for GWUK confirmed that GWUS had them in the warehouse, they enabled the item on the GWUS website. When the stock sold down, they removed it until stock levels came back.

Well, all books are now taken down completely from the GW webstore.

And I don't understand the argument: "They were taken down to sell more in the future."
But then again, I can't think of any argument.

The info I got was the stocks on a lot of the books are extremely low, and they had plans on redoing many of them any how.

So they may re appear at some time when a new printing/revision comes out.

I am not getting the point of the topic, the books are still available via Forge World or?
Is their a deeper meaning from where we get the books?

The point being for me at least that while I am more than happy to buy resin from the forge world site and have it shipped to the US in their standard substandard shipping format , I am not very keen on mixing resin and heavy book in the same Box - hence being able to purchase said book from GW's US website was very useful . Now I will have to order any books seperately and pay postage . I usually buy the models in large enough chunks to avoid the postage but I don't really feel very confident that they can ship books plus miniatures in the same flimsy box and not have something broken .

Not having them on the website also takes away the possibility of a GW store ordering them for you, or for your LGS with a GW account ordering them. I keep them in stock at my store, but can't order them if they aren't on the website when my sales rep tries to put the order through.

Hoping they come back in. Especially the Tamurkhan book.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Well the points above and the lack of a currency fee by your bank/cc company and free shipping on orders over $30 ( which I think all were over that).

Well it could mean since GW is not selling it no more, they are not legal for regular 40K games then. Just thinking outside the box.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

In other news, an experiment which started within the past two years was a success and a $200 million dollar a year business looks to make it permanent.

Just sayin' here Ouze. The Imperial Armour books being available on the websites proper was relatively new--and it was being done in the same manner that Forge World itself ran its book storage. They have a limited number of books, and warehouse them. When they sell out--they list them as "out of stock" or remove them from sale for a short while then bring them back when stock levels are able to support sales.

You didn't say they would become a regular stock item, you said they would potentially become a regular stock item. You're refuting facts (they aren't available anymore) with supposition. For all we know currently, they are going back to FW only after being a poor seller; there's just as much evidence at this time for that (though I doubt it, they are good books).

My thrust though, was that you state when they run out of stock, they have to wait "a few more months" to get them back in. That seems like a really long time to me, in the 2012 era of JIT restocking, for a company that has been doing print runs for 30 odd years.
