These are my latest tanks from my 'Blood Eagles' chapter. The Baal was my most recent effort, and I'm thinking of adding a name to the front of each tank. I'd appreciate any tips, feedback or advice! Thanks for looking. If anyone wants any more pics, just ask. I also have a landraider, assault terminators and assault marines.

I agree with HONAW, it looks great and maybe a slight bit of weathering. Sitll, great job!

Thanks very much for the positive feedback guys!

The freehand was done with afew concept sketches and applied after the red basecoat with biro. Then I filled in with white and kept on adjusting until each eagle 'looked right'. The one on the auto/las predator took me forever! I still like my original razorback ones the best personally.

How would be best to apply the weathering? at the moment the areas near the tracks have been lightly drybrushed with scorched brown and I've applied chips with boltgun metal over scorched brown.

Hmmm Mr Lunahound, you make a good point. I'd better repaint immediately Anyway, here's a devastator squad and my current commander. Not too sure about the eagle on the devastator sergeant's helmet. Maybe I should switch it back to plain red.

I think they are great. Also, I feel there is a trend recently towards "more weathering = good weathering". I think you have just about the right amount of chips, and a tiny bit of weathering, I mean, marines probably do look after their equipment.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

And here's my latest conversion project. In my fluff, the Blood Eagles come from Overreach, a planet also inhabited by great eagles. So if space wolves can domesticate the local fauna, why not us? Thinking of using it as mephiston in games. But not too sure what colour to paint the feathers. I was thinking of white flecked with grey?

Great job on the freehands.. and this griffon is just ridicilously cool. ^^
I wouldn't use it as mephiston though. It's just way too big.

Thanks, dissecting and reassembling the griffon to become an eagle was hard. Particularly sculpting all the extra feathers...

Surely if it's too big, it only disadvantages me? I'm not going to be able to hide that thing behind a tank like I could with mephiston! Personally I think mephiston's statline seems way too powerful for a marine-sized model S6 T6 and 5 wounds pretty well suits a chapter master mounted on a giant eagle

Lovely work. The emblem work on the helms, and tanks etc is outstanding and really lifts your chapter above most of the "self themed" chapters I've seen. There are a lot of excellent paint jobs getting around so it's not that easy to make an army truly stand out, which you have accomplished. Very impressed, thank you.

I am looking forward to seeing that eagle done! I wouldn't suggest doing all white though. On a model that large the white will probably look to monotone. I would go for bald eagle inspired colors but with more white than normal.

Perhaps something like one of these birds might look a little more striking than pure white:

ooh... interesting patterns and ideas. I agree with you on the pure white thing, it's not enough. Here's my test wing:

Wasn't so keen on the feathers at the end, so I tried some with a blending technique and I really like them. They're not all finished, but you can see the intention. I think I'm going for something along the lines of a white gyrfalcon or a gosshawk, but with the black and white reversed on the individual feathers:

Will probably use the eyes of that snake-eagle though, Jefffar

This is wonderful! The free sergeant has just the right tone of art-meets-badass that marines cover so well. The eagle rider is going to be something to treasure.

A couple of modeling suggestions: MOAR BEAKIES! A Captain Shrike and some Raven Guard bitz painted to match your stuff here would no look out or place at all. Also, if you're not afraid of chop work (and the eagle says you're not) a few DA parts would go well. The larger Vehicle icons are easy to pop the wings off of. I've found a a beakie with the 'scope' shaved down makes a wonderful base to attach the helmet wings for a very aquiline look.
