On Nimbosa, cramming as many guardsmen into troop carriers as possible.

I love the corvus helmet with the eagle on it! The overall army looks astounding!

Working on another Autocannon / Lascannon Predator at the mo. Not sure what to call it though, fitting with the theme it should be an eye-related name (the baals are claws and the razorbacks are wings etc.)

The choice is down to: Overwatch, Eaglesight or Oculus. Anyone got any preferences? I'll post pictures as soon as I'm done...

Eaglesight keeps with the theme best I think.

Like others have said, this thread is so good, those free-hand eagles on the tanks are incredible, do you draw them in pencil first?
what you got planned next for the army after the pred?

Thankyou very much Mr Crow! I tend to draw the designs in pencil or biro if I'm doing a new design, but just try and copy from a previous tank if I'm reproducing one. e.g. the Razorbacks or Baals.

I think the next thing will probably be to bring all of my tanks up to the same standard as my most recent razorback I did, with some extra script details and more eagles

...which I see I haven't actually posted here. Here are a few pics:

Or I might just get distracted and go for a stormraven

Good to an update to the thread DoomMouse, the lack of updates was noticed and missed. Great looking pred with awesome free hand i expect from you! only minor thing is the paint on the front could do with thinning as the paint streaks are showing through.

Thanks Mr Crow, that's really encouraging! Yeah, that's true - I'm going to start basecoating them from now on, hopefully then I won't need to apply quite so many coats The main reason I've not been updating is because I've not had access to a camera while I'm at uni.

My latest project has been some guardsmen for a tournament in a weeks time. Here's my test case, but as usual it's mainly going to be tanks! Until then my half-finished stormraven is on hold. I'm thinking of going for plenty of flames and camoflage patterns for these guys (and some grim 40K propoganda on the side of the griffons!)

Took me forever to choose a colour scheme, and I'm still not sure about the camo. I might go for a few flecks of blue, or black (you can see some blue on my first attempt guy). The vendetta's still a work in progress by the way.

Ahh fair enough, completely understand about uni, just finishing my last year at the moment, got a dissertation and all so the hobby has been put on hold till the summer. IG looking good dude, i reckon a few more flecks of blue in the camo would really make the scheme pop. The white on the vendetta is great , very uniform.

This is some real nice work. I hope one of the flipped tanks has "How's my driving?" or something similar to packages, like Wrong way up. Now I want to do something similar...

Like it nephilem - that will definitely be included once I get round to redoing the baals

I don't have much idea of the colour equivalents since they changed the paint names, but in the old one they are:

Red: Blood red on a basecoat of blood red (it takes several layers!) Although I quite like the new paint 'evil suns scarlet' as it achieves a brighter effect with fewer coats. The red is highlighted with a bright orange and shaded with scorched brown.

Metal: Boltgun metal, black wash and mithril silver highlight

Blue is enchanted blue, and mixed with black and white to shade and highlight

Black is just chaos black highlighted with skavenblight dinge

White is ceramite white shaded with dawnstone

The weathering is drybrushing scorched brown on, then boltgun metal and mithril silver to highlight. The spots of mud are stupplied on with scorched brown.

All this looks amazing.

The only thing i can really offer any other kind of insight about would be (and i think it has already been said) drill out the gun barrels.

1mm bit for infantry weapons, 2mm bit for heavier weapons usually works fine for me.

Took my army to the throne of skulls tournament this weekend and was pleased to get a 'best painted army' nomination, despite quite a lot of my models not really being finished... I used a blood angels and guard alliance with griffons. My Guard are a bit evil btw. Here's my first one:

It's still not really finished yet - I haven't got round to doing any weathering on it...

My stormraven is also a work in progress, I'll share some pictures when its done!

I also neatened up my eagle rider and added a saddle to him for the legends painting contest, but the other entries far outstripped my ability lol

@gen Steiner Haha, thanks. I enjoyed adding a bit of dark humour to them I've not really uploaded many pics of those guys before. Most of the rest are painted to a fairly basic standard as there are over 200 guardsmen... I'll upload some when I get round to a photo shoot and put a link here.

@Maniac nice - I'd not heard of that tribes game before. Maybe I'll add the slogan to a future tank and see if anyone gets the reference!

I think you have some really eyecatching space marines. The only thing I can think to add it a light dusting of your model's sandy base colour onto the tracks of your tanks but they don't need it, the weathering you have is nice looking already.

Not sure if this is on your radar or not, but a Knight in your chapter's colors would be pretty impressive looking.

Well it wasn't but now it might be... They do have some lovely flat armour panels that would be very easy to cover in eagles...

I think a funky thing to do would be to do a Veteran Company Landraider in white, with red eagles. Maybe the Chapter Master's ride? Massively pimped out with loads of wings and beaks and stuff?
