Hi there. Just a quick introduction then:
I used to play 40k around 1998-2001, and played Dark Angels and Chaos. I then stopped for decade, and finally got tempted back into the addiction/hobby last summer by a good friend of mine! So I rummaged through the attic and dug out all my old 40k stuff: A LOT of marines (no surprises there I guess). I started paint stripping them down (as most were embarrassingly painted by my teenage self!) with the intention of rebuilding a Dark Angels army to start playing with again.
However, I found myself quickly getting bored and wanting to try something new (it seems everybody just plays Marines these days). I had used Imperial Guard under the old allies rules back in the 90's and have always liked the fluff. I already had 3 Leman Russ tanks, a Basilisk and some (very old) guardsmen, so already had a start.
Since then i've been collecting - entirely through ebay - a guard army. I've mastered the Dettol paint stripping method so have been buying neglected models on ebay and have lovingly refurbished them for incorporation into my Urban-Woodlands Camoflague army (i'm still working out the fluff).
Right now i'm solely devoted to raising my guard regiment. I have played a small practice game with a marine player to get the hang of the new rules (which are fairly different to late 90's 40k, but the basics remain unchanged), but so far that is it! Needless to say I am itching to get them into combat soon!

I have posted a potential MechVet anti-marine list, so if you want to help me with developing that then please do! I appreciate any help.
