I am thinking of running a couple of Sternguards with Heavy flamers but I can't seem to find these bits for cheap. Perhaps there is a way for me to convert them or get an alternative version?

IIRC the terminator box comes with a heavy flamer.

Or with a little conversion work, two regular flamers can easily be hacked together to make a single heavy flamer.

Of course, whether that's recommended tactically...

The one in the codex uses a terminator heavy flamer mated to a SM arm.

You cut them both forward of the elbow armour and just glue together.

I've also done the same thing with spare baneblade heavy flamers (you need to cut them to fit with a SM arm and use some greenstuff or thin plasticard strip as well, though.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Or there are heavy flamers in the sentinel kit that you could use.

Lightning claws can also be trimmed and combined with the old Guard vehicle heavy flamer nozzles. Its a bit old school compared to the lovely new heavy flamer bits, but I think it gets the idea across

Alternatively there is the lovely left handed HF on one of the recent Badab War characters from Forgeworld.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Battlewagon Bits has a few heavy flamers at various prices. The lowest that I saw was from the Imperial Guard at $2.49. Use the search box in the upper left corner of the page to see other options.

Also, a little conversion and you can use IG infantry heavy flamers (from the command squad box):

I would have used a larger gauge wire for the flamers but happened to be out at the time. These guys were about halfway through the painting process, so please excuse the mess. They look much better now.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Those guys look awesome Gavin. I wonder if there are premade resin parts from alternative sources for heavy flamers? Prerably something along the line of $1 a pop.

You know, I'd ask any local IG players if they've got them in their bits box to trade or buy. That's where I got mine. Apparently the heavy flamer isn't a popular option for IG command squads and the local guys were happy to get rid of them and mine were free.

If the recently "leaked 6e" rulebook is close to the actual 6e rules, flamers and templates look to become much more popular given their versatility. I'd start asking now, just in case.

Or if you're friendly enough, you can just ask for them. I've gotten some Catachan bits from one of my fellow gamers just for the asking.
