So after building a new variant of the Dreadknight (Which i will post pics soon) I have need to build 4 dreadnoughts now. I have a Inquisition list going that works very very well. I am planning on doing a Steam punk "ish" theme for them, and Do not feel the Dreadnought itself fits this theme. I had a idea of using possibly Dust tactics Mechs OR to be more Tourney legal (and i am leaning towards this) Using Sentinels with 4 auto cannons somehow placed onto them. The Cannons would be maybe to the sides of the Armored cab, to give it a mech look (slightly) Or maybe mounted somehow to the cab itself as a Anit Air sort of look (Hydra).

MY question after all the babbling is this.. Any ideas on the Sentinel idea? I tried to find some sort of pics but failed as my googlefu is weak. Do you think they would be to top heavy looking? Or even A opponent at tourneys would have a problem with it? (Even though GW says any model can be used as long as it is GW ) So let me hear your thoughts folks.

rainbow dashing to your side

I used the pentiant engines without the driver and HWT autocannons for arms for mine (going with an admech army but should look good for your's)

I've been toying with this idea for quite some time now. One of the ideas I've been mulling about is putting in the Talos Pain Engine/Cronos Parasite Kit on the mix of Sentinel and/or Dreadnought kit. Something like attaching the upper body to walker legs and putting autocannons: it can give a feeling of an enslaved daemonhost or xenos, or if you cover the fleshy parts it can be a custom Inquisition walker. Can also give the steampunk vibe with the bits available.

I like DPBellathrom's idea alot actually (would tie in with the Death cult assasins.but that's going to be pricey, As it is i am having to buy 12 boxes of scouts For my Warrior acolytes w/ bolters lol And that alone is 300 bucks. I also had the odd idea to Go simple..since all they are doing is being long range guns.. To use the Gun platforms in the Imperial Defense line. yea it is a cherap easy cop out But in a way it kind of would look nice, especially if i model some sort of servitor slaved into them.

Not so much steampunk, but I've done 2 dreadnought counts-as using Sentinels for my Terranwing force. Might help with ideas and planning perhaps?

The height you can actually tune quite nicely by choosing the orientation of the Sentinel hips, or by leaving out part of the legs or even trimming the legs down a bit. You can also counter the spindly nature of the legs by adding more armour plate, etc.

Those are cool but it looks more like sentinels (count as dreadnoughts) that they have ilegaly gotten some Tau's to build for them under the table using "imperial" materials.

As for making steam punk dreadnoughts how about starting with the ork dreadnought?

My Terranwing are a bit of a homage to Starcraft 2, so the vehicles are a bit removed from the normal Imperial and Marine patterns
