I was wondering: has anyone found good colors from either the Citadel paints or the Testors brand paints that work well with a woodland camo scheme? I'm thinking about a 3 color design. Any tips or feedback is much appreciated!

Look into Tamiya paints for military models. They have exactly the right green, black, and brown for NATO woodland schemes as well as others I'd imagine. It's top quality acrylic paint suitable for brushing or airbrushing and a far better value than GW's overpriced stuff.

Testor actually has the NATO colors you want but the ones I used in the past were solvent based not water. I'm not sure if their Acryl line has those colors. Look at Guze Sanyo if you can find them at a hobby shop, they have larger line than Tamiya.

And I agree, the GW paints are way overpriced for the amount you get.

I've done a 4 colour woodland camo using all GW colours:
Base - Catachan green
1st DP - Graveyard Earth (I needed 2 coats to cover properly)
2nd DP - Scorched Brown
3rd DP - Chaos Black

Its based on the UK 1990s pattern I think and its pretty quick to do as well. Many more pictures in my gallery.

I like the consistency of the GW paints and I don't really use enough for the difference in price to worry me

Thanks for the feedback. I've looked for the brands mentioned, but not been able to find any of them in my local stores. Thanks for the color suggestions as well (and very well done on the models. They look great!)

These look great, but the greens look a little too faded and light. I would go for a DA green instead.

I was also trying to copy the UK camo scheme and Catachan Green is a pretty good match. I've tried using DA green in a camo scheme before and it just didn't look right to me. I think its too blue, but I guess it might work as part of a evergreen/arctic/tundra type scheme with a white/grey base.

Gathering the Informations.

Dark Angels Green is more of a "manufactured" green than a "natural" green if that makes sense.

Catachan Green is the "best fit" for a uniform color. Adding scorched brown to the mix naturally darkens it and adds a bit of depth to the green as well.
