Ok, Dakkanauts, you have the opportunity to alter the stat-line, special rules, and point cost of any ONE thing in the game... What would you do?
Let's try to keep it reasonable, guys, and stay away from LOL I'D MAKE DEATH COMPANY ONE POINT PER MODEL and things like that. Call this an exercise in rebalancing the game.
Guardian Squads - Option to take special weapons on Defenders, not forced to take a weapon platform, min of 5 in squad.

I'd invent various heavy weapons drones and let tau fire warrior squads buy them with drone controllers. Drones with things like meltaguns, missile launchers. I'd make 'em pretty cheap. If fire warriors are going to be so expensive, at least make them customizeable!

One unit that needs to be adjusted: Sniper rifles. They should hit on a 3+ regardless of the BS of the unit firing them. Then they would be a good choice, instead of a mediocre choice.

Woops, forgot about that condition.
Ok then, give Praetorians an invul (not much, 5+), OR give them 2 attacks. 1 attack is silly for a 40pt model.

How about: any unit that deep strikes within 6" of an enemy unit without a safety net (homing beacons, drop pod targeting jets) can skip shooting for assault. It exists in Vanguard marines now, but I never see anyone use it. It would be nice to get a special advantage for taking the risk of losing your entire force to a deep strike mishap.

Add special rule.. for every 10 grots you take, roll 1d6 on table below, you must have model to replace/use.
YES a grot gets a special gun/thing that works

Stormsheilds allow for invul saves to be rerolled in CC.

Well, as an IG man, I would have to say give platoon heavy weapon teams ( all platoon options realy) the option of taking a dedicated transport. Or, make an engineseer an independent character without servitors.

Sterngaurd vets have their own stat line. with a bs of 5 and lower weapon skill.
And assalt squads can deep strike and assault in the same turn. Doesnt make sense to let a deep striking unit that specializes in assualt not being able to attack after jumping out(but somehow shoot?)

Runic Armour: Currently Runic Armour gives a 2+ save and a 5+ invulnerable vs. psychic shooting attacks. I would allow the 5+ invul to be used against wounds suffered from Perils of the Warp.

Blood Claws - should really be a hair cheaper than their more experienced cousins. I really don't feel that having 1 less BS and WS (plus Headstrong) makes up for the fact that they get an extra attack on the charge.
Wolf Lord - I feel like he should come with the Belt of Russ by default. The only difference between a Wolf Lord and a Captain is the fact that the Lord has 1 extra attack and the Space Wolves USRs (Acute Senses and Counter-Attack).

You missed the point. Not a 2+/3++.
3++ thats it.
Termies used to have a 3+ on 2D6.
Termies just aren't tough enough. A regular space marine Termie should be 30 points.
