I am from the Phillipsburg NJ area and am looking for local gaming groups either in New Jersey or the Lehigh Valley Pa area. I frequent The Portal Gaming and Comics to purchase my models but haven't seen much 40k being played. If you have a local gaming group in these areas and are looking for a couple new players (myself and a friend) please feel free to post in this thread and maybe we can set up a game or two. Thank you.

yeah, 40k is all but dead at the portal. most of the players (including myself) have moved to other games for various reasons. there is an occasion where there are a group of 40k players that show on the weekends, but their attendance is sporadic and they are all new.

check out hobbytown in whitehall, they had a decent base a while back maybe it is still there.

What has everyone moved onto? Maybe it would be something I might be interested in and could get involved with.

the majority of the 40k players play warmachine/hordes now. It is now the mainstay game of the store. Other than that, malifaux, anima tactics and infinity is support by the store and has a few players who dabble in it. I play warmachine as my main, and i really dig malifaux as well.

I have some hordes, purchased the Legion battle box a few months back, built them and maybe played a couple games, not too interested in the Legion anymore, might move to Khador or Menoth.

P.s- Now that I think about it, I think I played a few games there, the one other big Legion player walked me through a couple games. Don't remember his name though.

Hi Synister_Intent,

Innocence Means Nothing is the local club in the Lehigh Valley. We get together every Saturday at Hobby Town USA in Whitehall (right next to the mall). Players usually start rolling in around 3pm and we wrap things up around 9pm. Afterwards we all head out to a local resturant for some food and 40K banter. Feel free to come in and check it out. We're located all the way in the back of the store.

This Saturday however the majority of the club will be attending DakkaCon in Media, PA..

There is also Mighty Titans Hobbies and Games in Landing NJ, they have a strong 40k community and its where most of the people local to me go to play, I live around the Belvidere area.

About an hour away from you is a store called Timewarp Comics and Games, its the best store in the area short of going to The Warstore in NY or Showcase in PA.

Awesome I will have to let my buddy know that there is a strong following there. He has been playing 40k for about 20 years now and over the past couple years hasn't played that much. I am new to the game, only a year and have only played 3 games. I just started DE and am interested in getting to play them more.

Yes.

The Warstore does not have a store front or a play area that I'm aware of. It's just a warehouse in the middle of a garden / landscaping center.

@ Synister_Intent - You should make the drive to Showcase Comics in Media, PA this Saturday for DakkaCon. It's a lot of fun and there will be tons of gaming to be had. Take US-22W to I-476S (toll) to US-1S and you'll be there in about 1hr 30min.

Co-owner of Mighty Titans here. If you would like to come by our store for 40k I recommend Thursday evenings as that is the busiest night for 40k. There's also usually a game or two going on Monday night.

Either way, we always leave a 3-4 tables set up with terrain so if you and your friend want to come play you can always stop by on your own time and get a game.

I'm about an hour from you but I am looking for a reason to get out to that store in Landing NJ. I am also trying to get an adult group going so we can hang out drink a beer and play some 40k

I'm in roughly the same boat. I just moved to Bethlehem, PA and trying to find a gaming group in the Lehigh Valley would rule. The Portal would be ideal since it's very close to where I live, but I pretty much don't know many people in the area. Plus, since my armies aren't WYSIWYG (relatively new into the hobby) that pretty much leaves me out for the tournaments at The Portal.

Either way, if I could find a group of friendly and cool people nearby to play some games with, that would be great. It seems like anytime I'd want to play 40k has to involve a day's length of driving on top of game time.

I posted above, but haven't gotten a reply. I'm moving to NJ and actually looking for a group to play Fantasy... Anyone know of stores playing some WHFB?

That is a bit far north. I'm not too sure where the closest place for you to play would be. Check your distance to Maplewood Hobby, in maplewood NJ, right off rt78. I can tell you thy don't at fantasy there though. Fridays is 40k night.

Did you ever find a good playgroup in the area? I am in Easton PA (by Laffayete) and am in the process of setting up some new 40K playgroups.

I'm about 45 minutes from Easton, in Chester, NJ. Mighty Titan just closed and I'm looking for some new players. I don't game often but would like to plan a regular 40K day. I'm not a competitive gamer either.

Just checked and Chester is about 50 min or so from me. I don't know of anywhere in the middle that would work, there is however a monthly meetup at the Portal in Bethlehem for 40K, next one is schedule for Dec 15 at noon.

Not sure I can make the 15th but I am definitely interested in stopping by for a game in the near future. If you don't mind I may PM you when I am available.

I'm another one of the Lehigh Valley local 40k players- I play frequently with Koldone (Hi Dom!). The 40k scene here has exploded, figuratively speaking, of course, in the past few months. Mostly, I believe, to Koldone and one of his friends, both of whom have the time and charisma to plan game days and actively seek out new players.

When I realized the blighted situation that the area was in for 40k, I decided to set up a Facebook group to try and expedite gaming in the area- not just 40k, but all of the games that have fallen by the wayside because of Privateer Press. I'm providing a link below (no more loitering for pickup games!):
