As quite a few of you are aware, the take up FOW seems to be accelerating and the imminent release of V3 is a good omen, showing that the FOW community is going from strength to strength.

This has an unfortunate effect of drowning out the other worthy historical games which often post on this Forum index that unfortunately get drowned out by the constant input of our energetic FOW community (of which I am also guilty!). George Spiggott came up with a good suggestion below (see linked thread)

However Legoburna believes that the required critical mass for a seperate FOW Index is not worth the required man hours and changes at this point in time. I hope to post up alternative suggestions so that we all sit side by side (just like Wargames Illustrated) and get our day in the sun and not being drowned out by other gaming systems. I believe this is only right and fair and would welcome others opinions on this?

Maybe not a FOW specific subsection but maybe a 15mm WW2 subsection since there are multiple model ranges and interchangeable terrain makers etc....

FOW is taking off in a big way everywhere.... People are sick of GW and Warmachine is just a carbon copy... people want something familiar in game mechanics yet wildly different from robots and laser guns....

Sorry yeah, 15mm WWII (read FOW) , we do use third party stuff all the time in the 40k Forums so yeah it would include all the other 15mm Games and Tropic Lightning etc.

Funny... I know no-one who plays FOW or uses 15mm for WW2...

I really don't understand why FoW doesn't have 'critical mass' yet Epic Scale Games does. It's interesting to read through the first posts in this section because you can see that FoW has dominated this section since it began in 2005 (6+ years ago).

I'm disappointed that Lego locked the other thread, I understand that he feels the time isn't right but further debate can't be a bad thing, can it? A new section timed to coincide with the V3 launch and supported by some judicious advertising via the front page and 'image link sigs' on the FoW official forums would be a smart move IMO.

BTW: After the V3 release I'll start a new FoW resources thread. I'll consolidate the links and remove the out of date V2 info.

Instead of FOW and a 'everything else' why not do WWII minature games, and moderens ( post WWII, so korea, nam, CWGH, etc etc). I must admit WWII does have a rather large following among many different systems and scales, so would that not be the easiest?

It would be nice if FoW had it's own forum space. It would also be nice if it didn't drag all WWII discussion with it, as it would mean other rulesets for the period would get lost among the general hum of 'looking to get into FoW', 'what army should I play?'.

In doing so it would open people up to the wider world of historical wargaming.

I sent a pm to Lego about it and the responce I got was, memory is at a premium here on dakka, until we switch to a 64bit java based fourm it will continue to be a problem, he assured me that FOW will get it's own fourm when it's needed.

I second the notion of a space for the FoW area. I think this is necessary for just how fast FoW is growing and the fan-base with it. It'd be nice to have a section concerning rules, army lists, and even one for a modelling showcase.

It would would be nice to see a 15mm WWII only forum. Most sites that I frequent have closed their FoW/ BF forums, or simply have never opened one. Would be nice to see Dakka make the jump.
