So I walked into the trusty dusty FLGS to buy some GW plastic and super glue to actually build and paint my own models for once.

When I realized they cut the size of the bottles in half and still charge like $9 for them. That's finally put me over the egde, and I need alternative glue sources. The problem is the GW glues work like a dream, particularly the plastic one. Every other 3rd party glue I've tried usually takes forever to dry, is really hard to control the amount of glue that comes out, and is incredibly thick and gooey.

Any suggestions? I would even consider buying it off the internet, but I live close enough to the biggest arts & crafts store in the USA, so I've got some choices.

Cheers

I'd go check out your local hardware store in the glue department, and check out what types of superglue they have.

Gorilla Superglue
Loctite Super-Control Gel
Other excellent adhesives (those are just 2 of my favorites)

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

The Tamiya extra thin cement glue is not super glue but it sure is strong and it dries super fast. Also you have really good control over the glue because there is a small brush on the cap.

I use Zap-a-gap (green) for metal and hybred and for plastic glue (solvent) I use some cheap (but GREAT) stuff I picked up off the plasticard rack at Hobbytown. It was @ $6 for a bottle thats lasted me through about 4000 pts of assembly.

This stuff in my opionion is the best plastic glue out there. The container lasts a long time and you don't have to worry about the tip clogging. If it does just heat it up with a lighter and let the clog burn out.

For super glue I prefer the stuff that comes in the purple bottle that is usually sold as the hobby stores brand.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

For bulk glue work where neatness doesn't really matter (ie most sticking on of arms, legs, heads etc) I use super glue I buy in bulk from the pound shop; 8-10 tubes for £1 - win
