To see a Living Saint on the Battle Field?

An Chapter Master?

A Grey Knight?

A Titan?

Or anything else anyone could think of that would make people weep with joy if they were Guardsmen, or gak there pants if they were Chaos or any other enemy.

"The Imperium is nothing if not willing to go to any lengths necessary. So the Trekkies are zipping around at warp speed taking small chucks out of an nigh-on infinite amount of ships, with the Imperium being unable to strike back. feth it, says central command, and detonates every vortex warhead in the fleet, plunging the entire sector into the Warp. Enjoy tentacle-rape, Kirk, we know Sulu will." -Terminus

"This great fortress was a gift to the Blood Ravens from the legendary Imperial Fists. When asked about it Chapter Master Pugh was reported to say: "THEY TOOK WHAT!?""

Well, for the average Guardsman?

A Living Saint would probably be a big deal and very inspiring.

A Chapter Master less so because frankly ANY space marines alongside you (the guardsman) is a once in a lifetime thing.

A Grey Knight, pretty much the same as a Space Marine until they turned on you and started stormboltering you because you saw too much.

Titan, pretty awesome, though tempered with the knowledge that you as a Guardsman, are petty much there to die in its defense.

Guardsman fight like berserk when they see ordinary Astartes.
Others would just bee overkill for them.

The Emperor doesn't have a GKs unshakable faith in the Emperor which is....basically himself?

The average guardsman couldn't tell the difference between a normal space marine and a Grey Knight, or a chapter master and a normal space marine, so there's no difference there. They'd likely be awestruck either way.

But there is no mistaking a Living Saint in the prime of her service to the Emperor, nor a Titan. The Living Saint would have the greatest effect, with the faithful to the Emperor being inspired just by being NEAR them even if they didn't actually see them.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Probably not berzerk...
They would (IMO in most cases) try to be as proffessional as possible.
Not sure if a Chapter master would make any difference from a Captain.
A Titan would make them very much more motivated.
A Living Saint... probably the ultimate in terms of a morale booster...

Living Saint: Undeniable proof of the power of the EoM, id imagine that this would provide a rather powerful morale boost

Titan: Strongest war machine in the imperium, but still based in scientific facts and logic. When titans are needed on a planet, id imagine the guardsmen would already be up s*** creek, so any half intelligent guardsman would probably realise this. slight morale boost

Space marine/Grey knight: depending on other space marine activity in the area, could actually cause negative moral. for example guardsman A hears about yellow armoured marines slaughtering humans and orks in equal measure, tells guardsman B, then guardsman B sees yellow armoured space marines and proceeds to lay an egg.

I remember reading about how Titans frequently step on Guardsmen they fight alongside. Plus they constantly are being destroyed in Fluff.

There isn't one. Loyalist Titans have gigantic klaxons which they use to "rally" their forces alongside of them and warn that they're moving.

I think it was Soul Hunter. There was a passage about an Imperial army massing against Chaos forces, and how the Titans were just walking along stepping on Guardsmen business as usual.

I saw nothing like that in Soul Hunter, at least for the Imperial army. There were Chaos Titans which did just kinda frenzy their way to the front.

There weren't Imperial Guardsmen in Soul Hunter anyways. There were Skittari and other Mechanicus forces facing off against traitor Guardsmen, mutants, etc.

The other ones might seem a bit strange and confusing but everybody knows what an Titan is and what it does.

Plus you can see it from an very long distance in open terrain.

Honestly a Baneblade showing up guns blazing would work well enough. Baneblades are a rare sight for many regiments whos largest tank encountered would be a Leman Russ. Anything further would be overkill but gain a similar result.

Usually I would think anything that is rare but extreamly powerful to the regular, boots on the ground, guardsmen would boost morale. a Space marine of any kind, a Titan, a Saint, or Baneblade (any varient). Maybe even a Vortex Deathstrike screaming overhead into the enemy lines.

Many Guardsmen would go for a extreamly long time without seeing a Baneblade, Titan or Space Marine, no less a Saint, if see one of any them at all.
same would result if said entity was against the regiment (negetivly) a Baneblade/titan/Space marine etc showing up would drop moral to record lows and rumors alone of the existance of such a thing in the enemys possesion would shake morale.
I mean if you knew your foe had such a machine that could cut through thousands of troops and tanks with ease. woudl you really want to stay and chance and encounter with such a powerful force?

i think the titan would most likely be terrifying as you would quickly realise that for the imperium to call in the titans then the enemies gotta have something pretty meaty too. i wonder how many ig have been crushed by a walking titan.

"Order. Unity. Obedience. We taught the galaxy these things long ago, and we shall do so again"
"You have ruled this galaxy for ten thousand years, yet have little of account to show for your efforts. such failure must be as depressing to bear as it is pathetic to behold."

Extremely.

It's completely over the top when even a normal Space Marine is seen battling before normal humans. Most will stop in awe of what they are seeing. This is exemplified in Helsreach when the Steel Legion trooper has to remind the citizens to fight and quit gawking at the Marine.

The Presence of a Titan means nothing about the level of threat.

Both Titans and Astartes will deploy to any battle if there isn't a more pressing one nearby. Any battle on a forge world would probably feature a Titan, regardless of hostile strength.

Guardsmen would have the morale boost of watching the Titan Guns wrecking the enemy, regardless of hostile armour presence.
