Final Fantasy XIII 2. Yup, 13 2. How that works, I do not know.
Anyway: Is it time they just let the series end? Make this THE Final Fantasy.?

You know that FF Versus 13 is coming out after that, as well, right?
Plus, why end the series? FF as been around as long as Zelda. Do you think they should stop Zelda as well?

Because making something new isn't a bad thing.
1.Releasing the same game every few years, with a few gimmicks as improvements.
2.Hype as best thing ever.
3.????

So, if people are enjoying it, what is the problem? I've enjoyed every Zelda game I've played, and most of the Mario ones. Same goes for FF. As do most people enjoying them. It's not like these series are circling the drain.
Just because "It's not new" isn't reason to stop producing it. Change for the sake of change, is never a good thing.

Setting the bar so low to make that true would also essentially mean that all rpgs are the same game, not just FF. There are some real differences between the FF games then you seem to believe. Some are more similar than others, but I, VI, VII, XI, XII, XIII, and of course FF Tactics are all quite different, though they certainly share some shared components in as much as having chocobos and moogles.

They did it with FFX. FFX2 was a great game. Don't judge a book by it's cover, haha. They might have done it with FFXII too.
Anyway, I love the look of this new game. There's a cardboard display thing with the main character girl on it in my local gamestop, and I was staring at it for like half an hour. I hate saying that animated characters are pretty, but she really is. Didn't play XIII, but I wish I would've.
No, they shouldn't stop making them. FF is just getting more and more beautiful, and I'd hate to see it go in it's peak. Automatically Appended Next Post: Ahtman wrote:n0t_u wrote:They all follow the same formula essentially making them the same game

Agree. The difference is huge. Especially between that traditional FFX (and previous) to XII. I didn't play XI, but I know that it wasn't the same active battle system as XII.

Nintendo wouldn't be around if they stopped all their franchises. You don't simply stop using your most profitable characters because a few people are sick of seeing them. Could you imagine if Disney stopped using Mickey Mouse? McDonald's all of sudden dropping Ronald from some new Yogurt Mascot? Pure chaos is what it would be.

Being a really big fan of the first game I can't wait for XIII-2's release! I pre-ordered it off of Bestbuy.com so I could get the Episode 1 story along with the game. 13 is probably the only FF that I've played that held me all of the way through. FF7 was overated imo. 8 was interesting, but I lost interest somewhere after they said the villain was being controlled by someone else who was from another dimension. X-2 was awful since I never played the first one and XII annoyed me once I found out I had to have characters with ranged weaponry in order to kill a boss...
I'm hoping this game doesn't crap all over the seriousness of the first one.

Personally I’m not that interested in FFXIII-2 (the direction was good but the script was overly convoluted hard to understand).
I’m personally waiting for the English release of Versus XIII and Type 0. Those will be good games IMO.

I've just finished the demo. I'm convinced this will be a better game than the first but probably have an even more convoluted storyline because time travel is involved. It's been pokemoned a bit because you can now capture the monsters. It seems much more open world and NPCs have a lot more to say. However, it basically has random battle encounters. Bad guys just pop out of no where.

FF13 was merely the latest step in the devolution of the FF series from an interactive gameplay experience in to a half-assed movie, a movement that has been plaguing the industry for some time now. Not even the illusion of choice is present, it's more heavily railroaded than the newbie's GM's first DnD game. Even the character customization was basically fake, there's only one path of customization and by the time other paths open up your characters are already dedicated to one role, and the other paths require insane amounts of grinding to actually work to any decent effect. Most of the characters were either worthless trash, copies of other characters, or whiny brats who need to have their throats slit and then stuffed with salt while rusty needles are shoved in their bodies and wiggled around so the death is more painful. The gameplay itself is lazy and basically is saying "I want to take control away from the players", which basically means it's trying to be less of a game and be more like a movie, except way too damned long, with unlikable characters and a plot both inane and insane. The background wasn't explained except in massive walls of text you had to earn, and it was either poorly written or suffered from blind idiot translation syndrome. The crafting feature... there WASN'T ONE, and anyone who says otherwise is a bald faced liar, which means the game itself is a liar because it tries to trick you in to thinking there is one too. The game didn't even have redeeming features like nice graphics or a good soundtrack to even attempt to make up for it, there was nothing redeeming about the game, it was just one whole mess that I hope someone is embarrassed about because they should really stop doing stuff like that at night. Yes, you could say I don't like FF13.

I hated FF13 it was just... well it's just wasn't right.
All the characters were 1 dimentional,, that stupid pink haired girl was really annoying.
The Summons were vehicles... for some reason. And in the battles you just didn't have enough control.
The only thing I liked was the Music, and even that was repetitive.
It wasn't made by Hironobu Sakaguchi and the Music wasn't Nobuo Uematsu so it wasn't really a proper FF.
Lost Odyssey was more FF than this game was. Mind you I wasn't that impressed with that either.
The last FF I liked was FFX, they then made FFX-2 which was aweful, but did have some good music in it.
So FFXIII-2 is probably not for me.

13 gets a lot of hate it doesn't really deserve. Let me explain. I played the game, and walked down what essentially is a hallway for 40 hours occasionally hitting "A". Here's the thing: I did that for 40 hours! I never finished the game, as I couldn't go on at that point... but still.
That being said, I'll probably be a sucker and pick up 13-2 even though I know going in I probably won't enjoy it as much as I do 3/6, 7, 10, or Tactics and will probably just end up wishing I had replayed one of those instead... I think I know what I'm doing when I get home from work.
