Hey dakka,
I decided it was time to test my skills and create and paint several models and dioramas to enter into golden demon.
The first on my list is a SM VS CSM diorama. The first model I have painted is a dead Ultramarine guaranteed to bring a smile to your faces
Please bear in mind that this is only my second freehand attempt on his shoulders and knees.
Cheers,
the_mini_painter

More pics soon C&C appreciated

I think it's great that you have decided to enter the GD. However, since you asked for C&C, here is my advice:

Start from the bottom up, and absolutely master basic techniques, like highlighting, shading and freehand, before attempting a whole diorama.

The model shown here is needing some tlc - he needs to have much sharper highlights, much better defined details, and much thinner paint.

The best painters in the world used THIN paint, lots of layers, and slowly build up the colours. While I like the fact that you want to enter, there is a long way to go - remember you are up against the best in the world.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Agreed with GuitaRasmus, it's a long road to getttng to the GD standard, but why not aim high

This, for example, was the 2008 winner - personally my all time favourite of all time...

While your at it, check out the top rated minis on the dakka gallery for inspiration - there are some fantastic dioramas out there...
