pVlad is a very solid caster, and is also very friendly to new players. he has one of the best army buff spells in the game (signs and portents) and can also finish off hard targets in melee by himself if need be (by casting blood of kings) while his feat is jack oriented, dont be tricked into thinking you should ever run more then 2 jacks with him, especially at lower points. think of his feat as "icing" on the cake, because you want to use signs and portents to make your good troops into gods.
a 15 pointer:
Vladimir, The Dark Prince
Drago
Winter Guard Infantry (Leader and 5 Grunts)
Winter Guard Infantry Officer & Standard
Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich
Widowmakers
play the game at all ranges. drago can tear up most heavies with ease, especially with vlad thanks to the affinity. widowmakers can hurt anything, and once your enemy commits, your WGI can mop up infantry with high RAT sprays, high POW CRA's or hit a heavy hard with a POW 20 CRA.
expanding to 25:
max out the winterguard
add 3 rocketeers
add the greatbears.
now your WGI are fully kitted in "deathstar" mode. the rocketteers let you reach out and touch your opponent early in the game and can use sprays and CRA's later in the game since they also carry blunderbusses. the great bears are your vanguard offensive powerhouse. something scary in your lines? the bears will mulch it. they also have built in pathfinder, tough and imune to KD. and under Signs and Portents i dont think there is anything that can survive.
