Lost in my disturbing mind...

Hello, I am trying to find a good site to download D&D 3.5 ed. so I can play with my friends. But after hours, through out the days, I have found nothing. So my friend said he's pretty sure that Pathfinder and D&D can be combined, as their game systems are very similar.

So, would this be true? And to what extent?

P.S. Yes, I would be BUYING the pathfinder books.

Pathfinder and 3.5 are similar but not the same. Also, are you talking about paying for PDFs of the books?

If not, this is really not something you should be asking about on Dakka.

Well, I'm currently running a Curse of the Crimson Throne campaign - a 3.5 adventure - with the Pathfinder rules.

It'll take a bit of conversion and guesswork, but like any good GM, you can just bluff it when a problem occurs!

There are some minor differences, but like the back of the Pathfinder book says: "3.5 Compatible" is the truth of it.

The rules for Pathfinder and 3.5 D'n'D are available free online (legally) at the following sites:
http://www.d20srd.org/
(All 3.5)
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/
It's printable, but also searchable, and makes editing monsters and characters on your laptop a breeze.

Here's another one for you.

Pathfinder and 3.5 are interchangeable largely because they're both d20 Fantasy RPGs, using the same class systems and feats- however, Pathfinder is an evolution of 3.5, as opposed to something developed beside it, and as such, though there are many, many similarities, Pathfinder has been re-balanced in some rather important ways.

For one, rules for things like Grapple, Trip, Bull rush and all of those non-attack combat maneuvers have been replaced by two simple opposing scores in Pathfinder.

Level progressions are different, with most classes having a different Hit Die, more classes getting Bonus Feats, and slightly different progressions of Will, Fort and Endurance saves.

Magic has been overhauled a little, making low-level Mages less of a liability, including infinite 0th level spells (cantrips and Orisons), as well as selections of all-new spells for Druids, Bards and Holy Spellcasters.

So, they are interchangeable, especially in the Lore and Campaign level, but you do need to do a bit of translating to and from Pathfinder, and you can't really mix'n'match classes from the two books- you'll have to choose to run Characters from Pathfinder or from 3.5, or else run into balance issues.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.
