In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

I go squads of 3's, and yes they will die 90% of the time after shooting. The trick is to take a valuable unit off the table- a scoring unit you can't get to with anything else, a hard melee unit, deathstars etc.

Flamers are a great unit but unfortunatly most of the other Daemon elites are also very good.

I think squads of 3 are best, remember this is a suicide unit so keep the costs and footprint of the unit down so you can deepstrike aggressively.

Pick the target that will give you the most return on points spent, ironically Flamers are one of the most effective shooting units to kill Grey Knights.

I generally only run them in squads of three, but I did play against an opponent that ran a large squad of nine. He mostly sat back and shot, but would jump up to flame things at opportune moments. It worked pretty well, but not sure if it was worth the points.

I have run them in squads of 3 and larger 4 or 5 man squads. In both cases they can be effective, but their shooting is so much more powerful than their toughness they usually eat a LOT of focused fire once they hit LoS. The key is to either suicide them into a high value target (I like terminators) or to drop them out of LoS and jump forward as needed.
