Now, im sure this is one of those things that have been posted a few times, or maybe one of those threads that are completely pointless. But I am going to ask anyway. I know this is a huge part of the fluff, and probably already has a picture for it, but a simple google image search didn't find anything. So, what does an actuall space marine geneseed look like?

If anyone has any pictures I'd love to see them posted.

Remember the diclaimer above.

Thanks in advance....

That's the progenoid gland. The Gene Seed is more or less the changes made to the marine by these glands being implanted. I guess it could also be another name for it as well.

Found this interesting while looking for more info.

This guy supposedly carries a bag of geneseed with himself. He's part of the AoBR set where the seed acts as a mission objective.

Well, it Rogue Trader, they still called it "gene-sperm", before switchin to the posher, non-biological term. of "seed".

Thought there was a picture of an Apothecary taking gene seed from a fallen marine in the olllllld Warhammer 40k Compendium, the one from Rogue Trader days.

So really, there are no pictures of the actuall gene-seed, right? If so, i think thats really cool, having a major aspect of the 40k background up to your imagination.

You can do that anyways. "Nothing is canon" means that just about everything is open to interpretation.

That said, I will admit it's a little more fun when the topic has not been touched upon before even in the slightest. The small difference between entering unknown territory and simply choosing a different path, so to say.

Also ...

I've always imagined geneseed something like in that new metal gear solid game where that ninja dude (raiden?) rips white ball gland things

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I imagine it like a pituitary gland or a thymus

Spoiler:

It would be pea-shaped, but contain things like immune cells and progenitor cells which aid in the transformation of a neophyte.

Gawdammit.

Sorry 'bout that. If Imageshack wouldn't try to force me to create an account with them this wouldn't be happening.

Anyone know a good image hosting service that doesn't require accounts and allows persistent links?

@Lynata: What problem do you have with accounts? Majhost is nice and simple.
Also, I picture it as being a little like lumpy porridge.

Having an account means anything I upload gets thrown into the same locker, even if it has multiple folders - and I don't want people to rummage through all my stuff when it potentially includes RL information (which I understand to be possible at least for the image hosters I've seen so far?). I actually came to be pretty relaxed about privacy or flaunting my personal (at times controversial) habits, shortcomings and worldviews, but there exists a point where I at least try to keep my various "identities" separate, and not just for private reasons.

Of course I could just as well register more than one account ... but seriously, it's much easier to simply throw an image on a server without having to log on and off and juggle with various IDs, especially when I only intend the image to be available for a couple days anyways (99% of the time).

I realize there's a ton of image hosters out there, but I always used to favour imageshack because it didn't force me to register. This has changed.

Also, I guess I just don't like the idea of registering everywhere, and I will always prefer a site that doesn't force me to open an account to one that does, unless the latter has features I consider essential. So, was Imageshack really the only exception? :/

Sorry for the OT!

I dunno what the progenoid gland looks like, but Geneseed is surely a liquid? The apothecary sticks a needle in the Marine's neck and extracts it.

This makes sense. In the black library novel "The Gildar Rift" there is a part where somebody's progenoid gland is place in a glass jar, so it has to be smaller than that, right?
