A Vendetta/Valkyrie is a Fast Skimmer, therefore capable of "flat out" (the third speed!) up to 24".

I have two questions about it that I can't find mentioned in the rulebook specifically.

1. Is any speed above 12" 'flat out' for a Vendetta, thereby granting a 4+ cover save? Or is 18" move required for the cover save?
2. The rules on assaulting vehicles don't specifically mention assaulting a vehicle that moved 'flat out' - this 'third speed' isn't mentioned in the chart. What do you have to roll to hit a 'flat out' moving fast skimmer?

1) Over 12" is flat out, granting a cover save.
2) all assaulting models still need a roll of a 6 to hit a Flat out vehicle.

both of these are covered under the fast vehicle rules on pg. 70 of the BRB

You're going to get violated, and your best bet is to go willingly to get it over with faster.

And on a totally different topic:

1. 12+" is flat-out.
2. Anything above Combat speed is treated as cruising speed for purposes of hitting in cc

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

1) As others have said, youre thinking of turboboosting bikes which must be displaced 18"+ from their starting position to claim the cover save

2) Note that in close combat you use the ACTUAL distance displaced by the vehicle to work out what it is hit on. Thus if you move 12" forward and 12" backward you would gaina 4" cover save AND be hit automatically in CC

actually i dont think you can move 12" forward then 12" back to claim a flatout cover save.... dont have the BRB handy but i believe there is a rule or something stating you have to actually move a certain distance from your starting point.

prevents the whole skimmers "circling" in one spot to gain "glances only" shenanigans of 3rd.

Darth - again, youre confusing Bikes (Turboboost) and Fast Skimmers (Flat out)

Turboboost has a requirement to displace more than 18" in order to gain a save

Flat out has no such requirement

You can do this. Fluff wise think of it as the skimmer making a circle for another pass. The model standing there would be ready for it to come back but it did move so it would gain the cover save. the real trip is to make it move 12" forward and 11.5" back
