My question is what size base should this be modeled on and how big should it be. Thanks

Generally speaking, for Tyranids, use the base size that the others in its wounds group has. (For MC's)

E.G. if it has 4 wounds base it like a Hive Tyrant or Carnifex.

If it has 6 wounds Base it like a Mawloc.

It's pretty similar in stat-line to a warrior, so a 40mm base sounds right.

Chances are that we will see the official model in 4 weeks.

From the Codex artwork it looks like the Parasite of Mortrex would be right at home on a flying base. Anyone know how big the large flying base is?

This. It's not a Monstrous Creature - it's more like an evolved Shrike.

For MC's just use the base that the same wound models come with.

for non-MC's use the base the same unit type comes with.

Since it is Jump Infantry, use the Gargoyles base, as they are JI as well.

So are Shrikes. And since they're based on Warriors, they should have a larger base (warriors have a larger base than termagants).

In the case of gargoyles and shrikes both being Jump Infantry, and both on different base sizes, I would go with the bigger base, since the parasite has 3 wounds.

I bought this off of ebay and likely will continue to use it unless the new model is absolutely amazing

It uses a standard flyer base (like the bottom of a necron destroyer or annihilation barge stand)

I have played in a number of tournaments where a model like that would have been allowed.

It's only unusable at tournaments that require only GW models. Since GW's tournament support started dwindling, more and more are popping up that don't. And some never did.

Hmm, well that is very nice to know. I just maybe looking into one of those if a model doesn't come out soon.

When did 5th Ed nids come out? 09? If anybody said anything I'd tell them to stuff it, took GW over 3 years to get their heads out of their butts and I'm not about to scrap all of my scratch builds due to their incompetence. I've used my chapterhouse Tervigons inside a gw store and the manager even complimented them.
