Lets say I'm playing C:SM and I have a sterngaurd unit with 5 combi-meltas. I'm firing at a Land Raider. How many combi-melta shots do I have to use?

Is it:

A) I shoot one combi-melta at a time, only using the next shot if the first fails

or

B) I declare how many combi-meltas are firing in their Melta Mode, and regardless if the target is destroyed before the shot can be fired they still lose that melta shot forever

B) -

Think about it, you name your target and roll to hit then determine the effect of all things. If it were A, you would fire 1, see if it hits, resolve it and see if it works before you go on. A slows the game down. B works like every other thing you fire at.

This is correct. All shots from the same unit are resolved simultaneously. You can't "wait and see" if a shot hits before declaring another shot.
