Hey I am looking at getting a Rhinox for my ogre army I know there are rules for it on forge world but have read somewhere that they are not the gw official rules. As these were printed in white dwarf some time back.

My local gw said I can use the fw rules as long as I clear it with who I'm playing. But if I could get the gw rules would be better.

I know you not allowed to post rules from army codex here but not sure on white dwarf stuff as I can not get the issue. Or if you can point me in the right direction or if you could explain how they differ from the forge world ones would be great.

Cheers

I don't think you can print either as it's the same copyright violation and economic reasons (not buying an army book vs. not buying a magazine).

I'm not entirely sure why they took down the FG rules. I "assume" it's because they stuck them in their big glossy book (which I ordered). If so, you gotta' get that. And it's expensive. If not, someone else might have a clue.

The rules don't mesh well with 8th edition, or with new ogres.
Best to just run them as mournfangs.

I'll second what Matt said. The old rules were a bit convoluted especially with some of the movement restrictions they had going on. I had a unit of three forgeworld rhinox riders, so two of them became unit champions in my new mourn fang units and the third on currently in my conversion bin waiting for a new life as something awesome.

Just use the Forgeworld Experimental Rules available on the website... they are pretty much the same as the old GW rules, with some streamlining/updating for the current edition.

The GW rules don't work in 8th.

The old 7th edition FW rules were identical to the GW ones so the Updated FW rules will be valid.

and FW=GW for this purpose. The Rhinox riders are FWs thing now.

Hopefully the rumored announcement of complete FW legality comes sometime soon. Chaos Dwarves are legal in many tournaments.

WS4 S5 T5 W4, 1+ armor, parry, magic banner and D3+1 impact hits. I wouldn't play against those rules. It's like mornfangs, only more broken.

The other side of the internet

You forgot how they cost a bucket of points to do that and purple sun = gone. Seriously, it's like 3 models for 400 points. It's not breaking the game by a long shot.

yeah, a kitted out Rhinox Rider costs as much as a Bruiser. They dang well better be devestating.

Except they are faster, have a better save and hit harder.
Oh yeah, stubborn too.

Point for point, they shake out better than mournfangs, because unlike mournfangs, you're going to have a very tough time killing them on the way in. With stubborn, even if you pull off a flank charge, T5 1+ save means you won't do much, then they will just turn to face and do the 32 attacks +4 stomps. Depending on what you're up against, they are dishing out 15-20 KILLS, when not charging.

At the very least, these guys should be RARE. At least then they'd compete against Iron Blasters, and you wouldn't be able to take the unit of 4 with 2 cannons.

From my analysis of the RR unit I would say they are actually best run singly and used like Chariots.

HA, IF, champion.

But their biggest issue for me is that they extremely expensive. Singly is about all I would run them as(and 2 at most)

Yeah I was only gonna run one. Just like to paint one but don't have the finances just to buy it to paint so I would need to use it. I'm not to fussed how good they are just want it for a but of fluff and the looks plus they look pritty scary when you put one on the table as they are pritty huge.

So will just use the fw rules and just see how it goes cheers
