So here's an idea how to deal with that big black thing we call as the monolith. I imagine someone might've used and shared this tactic before but I found it quite useful against new necrons.
It's so easy that anyone (except Tyranids) can do it.

Park a vehicle right infront of the portal.

Not only you force the monolith to move to different direction since, you also block the deployment through it and the sucking of models through the portal.
Using tanks to block the monolith has made my life easier in last few matches. So.. thought I'd share it with you guys.

Thoughts?

Well, I can see some logic in your argument, and it would be a nice cheeky way to play against you opponent . However, what you have to remember is you may have blocked off that monolith portal, but you haven't taken care of that nasty doomsday cannon, death ray, heat ray, mass gauss, c'tan etc. and they will almost certainly hamper the rest of you army.
There is a much simpler way to deal with the monolith, even with nids. Get your biggest, baddest melta/ MC/ lance, whatever, and blow it to smithereens!

Eh, I'd say since living metal no longer nullifies melta and lances, use melta and lances to blow it up. Parking something in front of a monolith just sounds like a bad idea, you're just asking for a large blast template to be dropped on you.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Monoliths are, at best, difficult to use due to the modern me(l)ta.

Think of it this way. The current Monolith is a slower, poorly armed Demolisher Russ with better side/rear armor that occasionally shoots out a bunch of Necrons instead of an 8/3 template.

Monoliths are NOT what you should be afraid of in a Necron army unless you happen to play Orks or something. It's impossible to give it a cover save, it can't run away, and it's so expensive.

Texas.....Yall

Depens on how many points for the tournie I usually play 3000 so I calways have a Dev squad of all las cannons for 5 guys and the other five are wound catchers

And you are incorrect Nids can destroy monoliths with ease its called Zoanthope Warp Lance Str 10 Ap 1 just make sure you have a distraction so they can get close like a brood of carnifexes even though they have been nerffed people are still for whatever reason scared of them

The Guard has las cannons so same as SM

The Tau have Broadsides,Hammerheads, and Fusion Blasters

Orks have Zzap gunz again you need a distraction because grots can't shoot for crap

Elgar have the Fire Prisim and Avatar of Khaine

Chaos has las cannons, battle cannons, Obliterators, Daemon Princes, Greater Daemons

If you are playing Crons vs Crons the you have Heavy Destroyers, Monolith (lol), the Barge thingy, and Immotech the Stormlord or whatever his name is.

I don't know what the Dark Eldar have knowing DE its probably some wierd probing machine covered in flesh that also has a BFG and it's very good at CC too in other words a very overpowered model for about 75pts

So yeah there's you guide for what all the races have to destroy large vech. And Monsterus creatures and other big stuff that goes bump in the night.

Hope this helps!!!

Eldar have bright lances (str8 ap2, lance), and all manner of other scary weaponry (D-Cannons and the like)

Dark Eldar have lances out the wazoo, as well as haywire nades and haywire blasters, as well as the Talos' and if you care for it - the voidravens voidlances (str9. ap2, lance)

Also - the Talos is S/T 7 MC, with D6 attacks and a splinter cannon at 100pts base, and can basically take a tl liquifier gun (ap D6 flamer), a haywire blaster (24", str4, ap4, haywire), heat lance (18", str6, ap1, melta) or stinger pod (str5 ap5 assault 2 small blast, with like.. 18-24" range)

But it's really slow, and tends to die fairly fast. 'course I take 2 (they draw lots of enemy fire, people are scared of em for some reason ) and if they do hit the enemy line they tend to rip something up, but hey.

Does your opponent not understand how to emergency disembark?

It's only 200 points, far cheaper than a land raider and it has some amazing capabilities, even without the melta resistance now. I'm glad that I can now teleport and particle whip in the same turn!
