Hey! To all of my fellow skaven players, i wanted to share an idea that I'm going with for my skaven army...

Now if you have ever played as, or against skaven, you know it takes a lot of models, especially if you are using slaves. And I honestly was getting tired of painting rats, so I got to thinking... Who ever said skaven slaves actually have to be skaven. It seems perfectly reasonable to me that the skaven would enslave anyone they got their hands on. So with that idea in mind, I have been picking up some random boxes of units that have the same size base, and am going to paint them up really dirty and ragged looking, then use them as skaven slaves. For now i've got some Gnoblar, and empire state troops. I'll get some pics of them up eventually, whenever I get to them on my painting que.... anyway, Hope ya'll are having a good one.

Ive had that idea myself actually. Just never bought it to life hehe but i think it's an awesome idea i hope to see some pictures of it!

I have read the Thranquol & Boneripper series, and when the Grey Seer Thranquol needed slaves he usually bought human slaves as he despise humans more then anything plus they are cheap as they die alot faster then rats (Humans aren't as resiliant as rast apereantly). So the humans was used to be experiemented on or sended into there death so he could escape awesome book serie actually.

I've done some Skinkslaves of my own with my extra minis:

My friend used night goblins and jewelry chain to make 300 slaves.... Good times

I have a friend who wants to model something like that, but do fillers like the slaves fighting each other, a poor human slave about to be eaten by hungry looking skaven etc . It's a great idea and it would break the monotony of rats up!

Oh, I see somebody already suggested using skinks as slaves. I have a friend who is doing the same thing. With slaves you can use pretty much anything that's the right base size. You could use Dwarves or some kind of elves to spruce it up a little more if you wanted to add even more variety.

Glad to see i'm not the only one with the idea. I am actually planning to use a orge or 2 as well, and just pull them off when there are 4 dead at a time, which would not be hard to picture with slaves

That's half the fun of it - to beat and then subjugate some models of your opponents Keeps it fun.
