I have a Captain Shrike model. If I take a techmarine with Combat Tactics, and then trade it to "Fleet" USR if he takes a retinue of Servitors do they get it as well? If so thats alot of PF equivalent attacks on the charge.... Seems a bit over powered.

The servitors get Combat Tactics from the techmarine, right? That's specified in the rules?

I guess that would work. I don't think it's overpowered, though, since Servitors are only WS3, I1 and have 4+ saves, so a bunch of them will die before they get to attack, a bunch of them will miss their swings, and--IIRC--the techmarine/servitor unit is majority T3?

Would be pretty cool to have a bunch of them coming out of a land raider, though. Like discount terminators.

I was thinking on this, as they are fleet it is a nasty surprise for 120 points...I mean thats a scout squad with a Powerfist and a few bits. Plus they get auto-repair (due to the number) so I think I might use them with my Ironclad to act as disconcerting expendable shock unit. I mean a techmarine with Servo Harness is no slouch leading them at 145, he can TL Plasma pistol or Flamer them. Working it through on the charge thats 10 Servo Arm attacks at WS 3, so 5 go through, add in Techmarine with 2 + 2 extra attacks. It's not great, but I'm thinking like an ork player with all his hidden power claws.... It's not uber competitive but might be fun..If i put Kayvann in the squad, they would get infiltrate with fleet, that could seriously ruin a vehicles day.

Servitors do not themselves have combat tactics. An Independent Character who traded Combat Tactics for Fleet joined to them acts just like any other Fleet character joined to a non-fleet unit, he loses the benefits of Fleet.

But he is not an IC, he is the Squad leader. They are part of his squad.

Nope, they themselves do not have the Combat Tactics special rule so they cannot trade it out for the fleet special rule.

Are we reading the same codex? He's an IC who enables you to purchase a squad of servitors but is not obliged to join them. Page 138 lists Independent Character among his special rules and he's a separate unit entry from the servitor squad.

Fair enough, I've grabbed my book checked it and you are correct. No need to rub peoples face in being wrong.

Really? I thought I remembered that in the Combat Tactics rules it says specifically that the servitors get Combat Tactics from the techmarine when he joins the unit?

Maybe I'm thinking of the GK codex and the ATSKNF rule.

Even if the Servitors do get Fleet, the squad simply can't do a lot of CC damage. It's counterintuitive, but I ran the math here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/424301.page#3815328

The upshot is that a Techmarine with 5 Servitors is roughly an even match for 5 Tactical Marines on the charge. This struck me as extremely underwhelming, so not being able to leverage Shrike probably isn't a major loss.

Yep, the rule I thought was there isn't there (now that I've had a chance to check). Interesting idea, though.

In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

I actually quite liked the whole idea of a bunch of servitors+tech marine infiltrating the enemy lines to disable their vehicles.

Sounded hilariously space marine fluff-like, with the whole surprise surgical strike idea

When all is said though, I can still get a Techmarine with Servo Harness and fleet for 75points. I can definitely get the drop on those Tanks now, this if I put him with the Ironclad may just free up the Ironclad to murder squads rather than tanks as the Techmarine can deal with it.
