Hi there,
We’ve got an assortment of Space Marine releases for you to pre-order from today: four sets of Chapter-specific MkIIb Land Raider doors and a set of Space Marine Tank Crew, one of which you might recognise from a previous newsletter. We also have two rules updates available to download: one of which covers the Elysian D-99 army list while the other is a more comprehensive update covering a wider selection of our range.

Space Marine Vehicle Crew

Space Marine Tank CrewThe armoured vehicles of the Adeptus Astartes bear names and histories heavy with honour, glory and sacrifice, and each is commanded in battle by peerless warriors to whom armoured warfare is a way of life. These Space Marines, who have an affinity with the ancient spirits of their tanks, will often gain great renown in the honour rolls of their Chapter for crushing the foes of the Imperium beneath their vehicle’s tracks.

Mark Bedford has designed this set of Space Marine Tank Crew, which comprises three detailed figures suitable for use with the full range of Forge World and Games Workshop Space Marine vehicle kits. The set features a wealth of details, including helmed and unhelmed crew wearing MkII ‘Crusade’ armour and a crewman equipped with MkIV ‘Maximus’ armour. The Space Marine Tank Crew set is available to pre-order now for despatch from February 24th.

MkIIb Land Raider Door Sets

In addition to the Vehicle Crew, four new sets of doors for the MkIIb Land Raider are also now available for pre-order. Featuring detailed Chapter-specific iconography, we have repackaged elements of our Rhino and Land Raider door sets to contain either Minotaurs, Astral Claws, Raptors or Blood Angels Death Company doors. These sets contain two Rhino-sized side doors and a Land Raider front hatch, and are available to pre-order now for despatch from February 24th.

Imperial Armour Rules Updates
The Forge World writing team have been hard at work compiling a rules update for the various units and upgrades found in some of the older Imperial Armour books, in particular for our Tau Empire range. They’ve also produced an Elysian D-99 update document to bring this characterful veteran force, found in Imperial Armour Volume 4: The Anphelion Project, into line with the more recent Elysian rules from Imperial Armour Volume 8: Raid on Kastorel-Novem. (Additional link from Kronk: Space Marines update, Tau Update, and Imperial Guard update.)

I don't think there is an online list. It's included in IA4.

Wow! Some nice updates for Tau in there:

The Tetra just got some really cool new rules; I think I might have to invest in some of them. Also interesting that it doesn't define what the Forward Observer rule does. Could it be another hint of 6th, or have they just forgotten that the original rule was "Forward scouts"?

Sensor tower rules have changed a bit, look like quite a nice force multiplier now.

Some interesting new options for the Hammerhead; particularly for anti-infantry work.

Commander battlesuits haven't changed, but rules are obviously now free to download.

Drone turrets got cheaper, but with more expensive upgrades and they've gained the option of a Shield Generator, which is currently an infantry only option (4+ invulnerable)??

Heavy gun drones haven't changed either.

Great Knarlocs lost rending :-( but otherwise looks about the same (some minor tweaks).

And finally Knarloc Riders got a points drop.

Edited for spelling fails

The D99 update is labeled as IG update. It's not a standard list as it lacks point costs, but lists the units and special rules "to make" a D-99 list.

I'm underwhelmed by the SM vehicle crews. It's been a loooong time since FW got a meh from me.

Thanks for clearing that up, Gamble. I wasn't sure what he was asking for. I added the Tau, SM, and IG links to the original post.

The forgeworld weapon options for the hammerhead have really been beefed (I never considered them to be viable options tbh), long barrels went from assault 3 to 6! Missile pods down from assault 4 to 2, but gained blast, also nice tbh. The plasma cannon used to only be heavy 2, so another big upgrade there (4 shots now). And price reduction for all options (except the fusion). If this is a taste of what is to come for the new Tau codex, I'm predicting a lot of happy fish-people .

Yeah, I had similar thoughts on the Hammerhead options. I doubt that these revised options are enough to get me to take something other than a Railgun on a hammerhead, but the TL Plasma Cannon is kinda tempting. Running the numbers, at Heavy 4 S7, it's a solid use for killing light transports, and at AP3, it's got dual use as anti-MEQ infantry. It's more than twice as effective vs. light transports and MEQ than the Railgun - for 35 pts less, as well.

Frankly, the ability of DA to get Rifleman, finally, will open up some doors for DA armies - adding some utility to a less-than-optimal list.

I don't think these were entirely necessary as you can easily make your own from plastic/FW pre-herasy bits but if there are people willing to buy them, then whatever.

Yeah, nice enough, but not amazing...

What I'm dying for is FW to update the points on some of their older kits: with the Valkyrie/Vendetta priced as they are, the other kits have some pretty absurd prices:

a Vulture costs 5 more points than a Valk for twin-linked multilaser and a heavy bolter, but can't transport (noting that for 5 points more than a Vulture, the Valk can just have a multilaser and 2 heavy bolters)

and a worse offender, the Arvus: a 10/10/10 flyer with no weapons for 75 points (though, it can get some decent weapons)

Its nice that they're updating some of the older figs to newer rules for free. If I would have known that my two tetra models were going to become heavy 4 markerlights each, I wouldn't have sold them 6 months back! At their old price and abilities they simply weren't worth fielding. With those rules, they're effectively a very mobile small squad of pathfinders! (bs4 heavy 4 is a bit better than a squad of 5 pathfinders for generating markerlight hits).

Runnin up on ya.

Sentry Turrets became troops (but don't count for the minimum 2 choices) instead of heavy. Huge!

Great Knarlocs are now MCs which is much better than rending IMHO.

I don't see that anything was actually changed for the heavy gun drones....odd there'd be an update without any changes.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Hrmm.. I stand corrected. For some reason, I was remembering them at 35pts each. Double good in that case... and worse for me in my "i don't have them anymore" state. :(

The Vulture is in IAA2 and IA8 I think, with some pretty beefy weapon options (and an Apoc formation in the former book) while they added the option for bolt-on guns in the Arvus options in IA9 and IAA2ndEd

Totally right about those casts not being superb... hadn't noticed that. FW (from my exp) has had pretty good quality control, so it seems pretty dumb to show a poor casting for the photos...

I have always loved Knarlocs models, and I even contemplated buying either the Mounted Greater Knarloc or the Knarloc Riders.

Has anyone played them with these new rules to see which one is better or if they are worth buying for gameplay at all?

Also, the turrets and towers were vastly improved. Deep striking TL Missile Pods that can arrive at a moments notice with the Tower's Positional Relay can be really useful.
