Hi everyone, just thought I'd post the start of my Chaos Marine Army here. I decided that I don't have anything Purple in my collection and thought I'd give it a go with these guys. Now initially I was going to do the whole army one color but decided that it was such a pain just to get this one squad to look like this ( which I'm still not fully happy with) that I would instead do each squad as a different Renegade Legion, some more less seen color patterns. I think what I'm most happy with is the work on the trophy racks and the loin cloths. Every marine has one and I added alittle chaotic freehand to each one and to some of the armor since I really couldn't decide on a good decal to use as there symbol. I did add a level of edge highlights after these pics were taken just to sharpen up the edges a little. Ive already started on the second squad which will be Steel Cobras ( Old Bronze with Emerald Green Metallic Armor trimming). The first test mini is done and I will post it soon. Enjoy and Thanks!

Wow. All very nicely done. Love the colours, very crisp and clean, but it's still dark and archaic enough to look like Chaos Space Marines.

It's hard to use purple without making them look too Tzeentchian/Slaaneshi....but I think you did a pretty good job. Good work all around.

Looking good. I like all of the embellishments you've done all the way around. Lots of trophies and spikes. The purple looks nice - could use *just* a touch more depth, but, these models look really good.

Thanks, yeah i was afraid they were getting too Tzeentchian/Slaaneshi at one point which was why they took so long to get to there. Wash/Glaze/Wash again. One of the reasons I didnt want to do the rest this color was I was sure i wouldnt be able to dupicate the colors. These photos don't show it but I did apply edge highlights after I took the pics so they do have crisper edges now. And I wanted them REALLY Spikey! Going through both the old and new Chaos Marine Codexes, you see in the art work that almost every marine has a trophy on his pack somewhere, not just champions, So I gave racks all around and gave the Champs the biggest racks (lol). I've got WIP shots of the packs so I may put that up as a tutorial this weekend.

LOVE these dude, very characterful with all the little conversions and freehand and the purple came out great. Always good to see lesser known chais warbands, I think you should do some Hakkanor's Reavers next

These are fantastic. Did you sculpt the tabards yourself? If so perhaps you could do a small tutorial on it because that is something that has always slipped my grasp as a hobbyist.

Thanks guys. The tabbards are all greenstuff hand sculpted each one. I have the technique down since it took about two hours to do 20 of them. I'm playing around with making tut videos and I'd like to make one on the tabbards and trophy racks.

Right now I'm almost done with a Steel Cobras squad. Hakanors Reavers sounds very interesting as well , thanks for the idea.

I just posted my first video tutorial last night and its on how I created the tabards from Greenstuff. I also cover Terminator robes. Be warned though it's about 36 minutes long. I think you will find its just what your looking for. Here's a link to the post in the tutorial section:
