Subject: what's the better daemon shooting option?

Doing a 1500 fatecrusher list but trying to round out a bit of the list so it's got some anti-tank/shooting options. (ya, I know it's not optimal at 1500 but I'm doing it for fluff anyway )
Debating between -
2x heralds on chariots with legion+master of sorc + bolt (and some extra troop bodies)
vs
lord of change (legion+mastery)
vs
2x shooty daemon princes with mark/gaze/bolt
or just a bunch of horror bodies?

Herald bolt in a horrors unit is what I run in 1000 I run the changling but if you're worried about armor you can use the Bolt upgrade. Daemon prince mark of nurgle if my favorite because the upgrades are VERY good against units and in cc the monstrous creature 2D6 makes him a threat to armor too. I'm aware you're looking for Tzeentch models just thought I'd put that out there. Back to the Herald I like mine in a unit for allocation purposes.

I thought you couldn't hide the herald if he was in a chariot? or do you just hide a herald in a group of horrors so it's like having 5 ablative wounds?
I thought of doing that but I suppose the decrease in mobility is a fair trade off.

Who needs to hide him. With 5W, 4++ (or 3+ turbo-boost) and Fateweaver nearby, he'll soak up a lot of firepower.
But if you have Fateweaver, bloodcrushers and/or fiends in your army, the tzeentch heralds are going to get ignored anyways.

I have him on foot with the unit yes, but I don't run a fatecrusher list usually. I'm more of a daemonic horde player. I find with BA and GK being the two most played codices right now (at least at my shop) that a fatecrusher list just doesn't do well. It might have been how I was playing it though. I agree with everything that jy2 says, except that they will be ignored. They will not be ignored they are too good at shooting especially how you're kitting them out to be ignored. Most people who know anything about daemons know how deadly they are and will make them a #2 get it in close combat to kill it target, after Fateweaver of course.

Herald without a doubt, they're like 110 points a pop and you can run 4 of them, they also are shooting powerhouses and we both know this, 4++ save, and 5 wounds, insanity.

I'm pretty happy with heralds too but I keep thinking that my tzeench daemon prince can always resort to assaulting as well while the herald is kind of stuck.
Do you guys have any experience in how often shooty daemon princes get into the thick of it?

Well it depends on how many close combat threats you have? If you're running a very shooty list then often. If you have counter charge threats than lest often. If you are running a Fatecrusher list and wish to keep everything,or as much as you can, in his aura then yes they will be assaulted. I think you should split it up. Herald and a daemon prince.

So far the core of the list I want is fateweaver, 2 squads of 6 crushers (may go down to 5 each depending on what else I need to shove in there)
1 squad of 6 fiends
2 plaguebearer squads of 5 just to hold objectives.
that's all so far in it at the moment. Tanks are pretty prevelent where I am (transports/heavies/lots of necron av13) and so far with what I have, anti-tank seems really light so trying to blow up some transports at range so I can charge in to eat squishy insides of the metal boxes.

Ok daemon prince of Nurgle like I said before good at infantry and tanks. I prefer Flamers over anything but they wont mesh well with your army and synergy is everything. Blood letters are an ALWAYS unit, with pink horrors not far behind. Give the horrors bolt and a herald with bolt and BOOM thats tree anti tank threats right there repeat the process and you have 5.
