So, the question is in regard to Necron Nightscythe, but because they don't have a model, I will use Razorbacks as the example instead:

So, say I line up 3 rhinos, right next to each other. Then I placed 3 Razorbacks with twin-linked Lascannons attached right behind them. The rhinos pop smoke, and the Razorbacks fire.

In this way, will the razorbacks's targets have no cover save, since you messure from the Gun, The Rhinos have a cover save from Return fire, and the Razorbacks are untargetable, Since you must target the Hull? Or, at the very least, you can't see the razorbacks's facing side, so they recieve a 3+ cover save?

The reason I point out the nightscyth is, if they have the under-hung guns, then 6 Nightscythes could do this, but the front 3 will move 12.01 inches each turn for a Flat out cover save.

I just want to make sure all of these moves are legal/Doing the saves correctly.

Yes, it's possible for vehicles to get a clear shot while being in cover.

It's equally possible for every other model on the table, so not really a big deal.

The weapon mounting is hull, so you can shoot the Razorbacks with a 4+ cover save

Thanks Insaniak. I guess that's fair. The vehicle version of shooting from area terrain.

Nos, for a Razorback, it's mounted on the top. If the Razorback is pointed towards the Shooting vehicle, that means the shooting vehicle is in the front arc. Since I can't see any of the front of the Razorback, only the mounting on the top, does the Razorback get a 3+ cover?

The mounting/turret is part of the hull. So all the Razor is getting is a cover save. Hull in 40k is defined as every part of the vehicle which isn't a weapon barrel or purely decorative.

Since the razorback turret is mounted at the rear, if your firing arc is coming from the front or sides, but you can't see what you should be firing at (the facing) but can still sett the vehicle, it has an increased cover save by one.

Yeah, 3+, as you can't see any of the facing you're shooting at.

One thing though, whatever the Razors are targeting, it has to be far enough away that it doesn't get a Cover Save from the front line of rhinos.

1. An enemy tank? Prolly, no Cover.
2. Infantry? Likely. Gotta be case by case though.

No, you can see the facing you are firing at if you can only see the turret.

The turret is a part of the hull.

So it is a 4+ not a 3+ if you can only see the turret.

If you want to argue that the turret is inherently part of the rear armor/arc, then it might qualify for the 3+ cover save, but it'd also be AV10.

Right. Although, I believe with some weapons' descriptions have top hits as being resolved against side armor. But I don't think that applies to the point we're on.

Still, I'd count the AV facing, from a ground shot, even if it's just the turret being LoS. For a razor, wouldn't matter side or front. But what about a Predator's gun turret?

DR-
The other night, I had LoS to a Dread's exhaust pipe and the panel in front of it, the top of the Dread. It had a razorback in front of it. How would you rule that?

AV12, 4+ ? Even though I did have LoS to the hull facing me?

Or 3+?
