Recently tripped (Physically, little plastic bugger) over my old gameboy, with pokemon ruby in it, and now I'm hooked again. Just in time for half term at college!
What I want to know is if any of the newer ones are any good. I mean either the gameboy ones or the ones for the GameCube/Wii?
Figure I may as well do this right. Thanks guys!

Deffinetly! Pokemon Leaf Green/Fire Red is a great buy. Sure to provide alot of hours to play and more
And of course old classics as Pokemon Gold/Silver, is something to think about too.
The Nintendo DS Pokemon games are pretty sweet aswell. Got Pearl myself and injoyed it alot!. But if you are sticking to ur old Gamebo get your hands on Leaf Green/Fire Red seriusly that is the bomb!
Sadly i got no information on GameCube/Wii pokemon games thou.
Well hoped it helped a bit! Go catch them all!

All the newer ones are improvements on the previous ones. If you liked one, you'll like them all. Just be aware that there are some bad designs in the newer ones... But then some of the first ones were pretty gak (Seel, Ekans, etc) Go for it! I'll vouch for every game in the series except Battle Revolution. Woop, 400th post!

I didn't really like any of the new games (the remakes were mostly fine) after ruby.

After some digging, I located my old copy of Pokemon Colosseum. Unfortunately, the disc is pretty buggered and all the tips and tricks I've tried to use to repair it have been unsuccessful. I have also misplaced most of the GameCube stuff, including the GBA connection cable, and the memory card with my saves on it
And I'm a little cash short this month. And probably the next.
But I digress. Have now been playing on the damn thing for 30+ hours
Anyone have any games or the relevant cable that they no longer need and/or want? Preferably in the UK.
Thanks for all the advice guys!

IMO, the console pokemon games are all worthless. It's always either endless battling or endless fluff. I don't personally like black and white, but pearl and platinum are great. Didn't like diamond at all. lol.

This, Heart Gold and Soul Silver were good and the second most recent. After that was Black and White which are sort of a let down after it, missing some features I liked in hg/ ss and having a general lackluster feel over all.

1st and second generation. After that I completely lost touch with it.
Bought White a while back, not impressed. Haven't played more then a couple hours and it's been sitting ever since (along with all other handheld stuff, psp and DS both).

I've got almost 90 hours of gameplay on White, I loved it and still do. Currently trying to complete the whole dex... anyone have a Manaphy, Mew or Celebi?

I could give you all of those, but I don't know how to trade to white from platinum

You can't trade from white to platinum, only from platinum to white.
I'm thinking of buying soul-silver to play during my free time on rowing camp in france this easter.
I've already spent 140 hours on black, and crystal was my favourite out of all of them.

PokeTransfer Lab, head east of nimbasa or west of black city/white forest. You need 2 dses though.

I would say Crystal is a good buy (personally my fav aswell).
Failing that then, Ruby, Fire Red, HG, SS or Diamond are probly good bets.
Black and White imo look horrible, if they remade say Red/Blue with the graphics from Black/White I would have been sold. The new Pokemon look ridiculous.

Some of them are weak, but I actually think that many of the 5th Gen pokemon are better than the majority of 4th gen. It actually feels fresh to me. Granted, some are very bad (Stunfisk?) but many earlier ones were worse (Seel, Grimer, Buneary, Dunsparce?)

From whay I played of Soulsilver it was good, but I lost interest with it. My two boys love the games though, and I'll pass over my SoulSilver to the younger one (as a headstart) once I get a 2nd DS later in the year. All ready have a Heartgold hidden away for the eldest. Tbh, I'd only be interested in Pokemon now if they either do a MMO, or a Console game that is literally the same as the handheld versions, but has the whole world in it and brings in the Pokemon sound effects from the movies, as well as console level graphics. Think I'm done with handheld versions.

Yellow made my childhood. I'll never be able to replace it with something better. That and Goldeneye for the N64.
Silver and Crystal were fun too and the cards were great.
Try this out maybe : http://gprime.net/game.php/warhammerpokemon2
Haha, seriously though, i'm a big fan of the first set but after that i lost interest.

Gotta agree, 2nd lot were the best. I loved gold, even though it was nominally my sisters, I did all the cool stuff on it.
