Well if you need basic flat sheets of plasticard, I would just buy garage sale signs. Much cheaper that sheets of plasticard from someone like Gale Force 9.

Canada is BIG. Can you narrow the search parameters?
Do you want to buy small quantities or large quantities?
Do you want shipping charges?
Search for Polystyrene sheets. There are a number of places that sell this stuff fairly inexpensively if you are willing to buy 48 by 96 inches sheets.
I heard that Home Depot has some plasticard signs that do the job. I have yet to confirm this.
Another source if you can find one (I have yet to) are plastic sign makers. The signs are plastic not the makers. Bio-plastic anyone... If you take the bus, you might want to look at the advertisements panels in the bus. I believe that is plasticard as well. It's been a while since I took the bus, that info might be a old (as I am).
Look for plastic containers (food or otherwise) that have the recycle number 6. That is plasticard. Of course if it's in foam format, it may not be what you are looking for but it does make some interesting stone surfaces.

PLASTICARD can be substituted by many things. One of my favorite PLASTICARD substitutes is using a GW Giftcard, or other store giftcard.
I also suggest acquisition of PLASTICARD via the internets.
