Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

I am creating a character for a short Pathfinder campaign and need some help sorting out the character sheet and picking the feats/skills/etc - it has been about 4 years since I last played an RPG and
I've never played Pathfinder so could use some pointers.

My character sheet

Campaign info

I think I've got the basics down but am struggling to get the details sorted out and I could use a hand

I've included the bio here just so you can see the kind of character that I plan on playing:

Bravis Storng, a lawful paladin in the diabolical lands of Cheliax, was never going to be welcome in the well traveled or urban areas of the country. Instead Bravis wonders the countryside, keeping his beliefs hidden from the population, settling disagreements between neighbours and attempting to spread a little goodness in a country where greed and trechery is common place.

His attire reflects the dark land in which he travels; blackened, baroque plate armour is covered by a travel stained and tatty dark robe, a large spiked shield hangs from a strap over his shoulder and an intricately worked longsword hangs from his hip. His face marks him as a warrior; tanned and weathered, cris crossed with scars, yet proud.

The long years of travelling the country, sleeping under the stars in all weathers and seasons and keeping his good nature secret have aged him; his close cropped hair is a grey stubble that crowns his head.

He has long since learned that he can make little inroad into the nature of the Cheliax peoples but time and again he has resisted turning away from the country he hopes to save and taking an easier path through life. Bravis seeks to show those he meets that there are other, better ways to life, to sow and nurture goodness in people’s hearts and to limit the evil done in the name of greed, fear and blind faith to the laws of devils.

Had to go and make a divine character, which I'm not as familiar with, now didn't you?

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Bwahaha!

I love paladins - being able to protect and heal people while wearing heavy armour - awesome

I wish I could be more helpful but I just never played to many Divine chars in 3.5/PF. The only one I recall was a Half-Orc Cleric/Inquisitor/Battle Priest. For some reason Cleric didn't get Sense Motive in 3.5 so I needed Inquisitor for it. It also gave me a few neat bonuses that were flavorful as well, since he was a Goliath Great Maul wielding Priest of Sigmar, essentially. Well, he was based on a Warrior Priest anyway.

I played a Pathfinder paladin until level 6, this is what I found useful.

1. Smite Evil is much better than in 3.5. Now, instead of your next attack(successful or not) being buffed, you pick one monster and every attack against it is buffed until it or you dies. Useful against any evil boss type character, and the buff is substantial.

2. Lay on hands(lvl 2) is now a 1d6 heal per use instead of being based on your level. If your party lacks a dedicated healing cleric, putting a lot of points into charisma will let you use your heal more often each day.

3. Divine Bond(lvl 5) now lets you choose either a weapon or a mount, whereas it used to be only mount in other editions. This is very useful because most campaigns(at least that I've participated in) do not focus on the kind of setting that allows for mounted combat.

Skills have always been, for my groups, personal choice to flesh out your character. The only one to avoid(unless your character is meant to be paranoid) is Sense Motive. Paladins may use Detect Evil at will, so while you can't tell if a neutral character is telling you a lie, you can get a basic idea of the person's morality.

For feats you can go offense or defense. There are now some shield feats that are useful, and power attack, cleave etc. have always been staples of damage characters. The one thing to keep in mind is, whatever you decide to do in feats, stick to it. Almost every feat has a tree now. Iron Will now builds into Improved Iron Will, and there is a huge Critical feat tree that lets you get extra effects on your critical hits.
