im wondering about the sequence of IG orders, specfically,

can a squad be given the "incoming" order in an enemy shooting phase, then recieve a "get back in the fight" order in thier own phase?
or does "incoming" have to be done in their own shooting phase prior to any shots coming at them?

ALL orders are performed at the start of the IG players shooting phase.

Thats it.

so you would have to be aware of a unit thats going to get shot to heck and issue the "incoming" order hoping the other player actually then shoots at them... seems like quite the gamble.

Can be quite a gamble, but can be useful if you have just moved your squad out in the open on an objective and just need to hold out.

Yep, very useful late game. Guard with a 2+ cover save are hard to shift....
