The rule book says that template weapons may only target the level a ruin one level higher or lower than the model firing it. The Dread knight heavy incinerator lets you measure 12" out and then fire the weapon. If the DK was on the bottom level of a 4-story ruin would he be able to target the top level by measuring 12" up and then placing the template? I would say no, because the model itself is still on the bottom level but what do you guys think?

Wow I didn't know about the one level difference for templates. Yes the DK can only fire one level up, not two levels up.

You are correct. The levels that can be targeted with the template are relative to the level the firer is on.

Of course, if the DK had a personal teleporter then the DK could target any level.

The DK is still a Monstrous Creature, and IIRC MC cant climb ruins. I dont have my BGB with me so this may be a false remembering.

Edit: I was wrong MC can climb ruins. Though fitting a DK on the second floor could be an issue.

Personal teleporter makes the DK jump infantry. And jump infantry can target any level of the ruin with a template weapon.

No it does not. It lets it move as Jump Infantry.

Did I miss an FAQ? The entry on page 26 says units with personal teleporters are jump infantry.

I did miss an FAQ.

Q: Personal teleporters make the unit with them jump
infantry. How does this affect a Dreadknight with a
personal teleporter? (p28)
A: It is a monstrous creature that moves like jump
infantry.
