I have long been a Warhammer 40k fan, but I am thinking of picking up Warmachine. I was looking of the privateer press website and it looks like they have another game called Iron Kingdoms?

What are the differences between these two games? Are they compatible with eachother? Is this kind of like a 40k vs. Necromunda type of thing?

Iron Kingdoms is an RPG like D&D. Warmachine and Hordes are tabletop wargames. Warmachine and Hordes are set in the Iron Kingdoms setting. A better analogy would be 40K vs. Dark Heresy.

The Old Iron Kingdoms RPG (Published under Wizards Open Gaming License) was a great RPG. Unfortunately it died after a couple of years and haven't really received any attention since 2007 (there abouts).

But there is a whole new edition on its way, due to be pre released at Gen Con this summer - however it does look like it will shake things up a bit more than many had hoped, mainly by including minis as a very central part of the rules.

Besides that, I don't get this thread at all. You say you're at the PP website and you see something called "Iron Kingdoms". Well... Press the damn'ed link! It tells you everything and more right there:

Same setting and fluff.

Game is compatible with D and D 3d edition rules, though you can play it with the stuff as is found online.

They had a running tit for tat back in the day with the WOTC D and D guys and PP that is still legenadry in the WTF column.

Word on the street is that there was supposed to be a revamp, but I never got the rest of the story on what happened. These days the cool hardbacked books are like gold in finding them.

Iron Kingdoms is the RPG line of Warmachine. There are quite a few amazing character minis available, and they have a great selection that go with the Warmachine/ Hordes game.

I have Shaw and Rorvissi. Between the two of them, and an added Cyclone, they can really roll up a flank and make some real mess. They work great for a merc, and pirate gang, too.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Me, two posts above you wrote:there is a whole new edition on its way, due to be pre released at Gen Con this summer

Btw, could you elaborate on this:

I only understood half of it, but that part sounded very interesting

Cheers
