Ok it isn't a quest, and it started as a joke but now I'm wondering how it could be done. I was thinking that combining parts from Wych plastics with Necron Warrior plastics could lead somewhere fruitful. Anyone with experience with both have a thought on the feasibility of combining the two? Or any other thoughts on possible parts/processes as well are welcome. Just tossing around ideas in the theoretical before putting any money into it.

Hello,
I find the art chosen really cute. It may even get some of the anime fans playing. Perhaps segmented hair that would be similar to dreads, however being metal.

Regards,
Carl

No, spraying three colors on your minis does not count as painted! 5k+

Well, if you go by new fluff, you could probably have lords/crypteks/higher ups that actually have customized chassis. Warriors probably would not remember their gender; even immortals would probably be iffy.

For all that is holy, however, don't just sculpt boobs onto everything.

Bleh. When/If I get ahold of some Wyche models I'll mess around with it and see what can be done. If it is interesting I'll try to post here. It would be more something to mix in with the regular warriors just to give a sprinkle of variety. It might be visually interesting, might not, we will have to wait and see.

But...but...but....how would you know they are ladies without ridiculously over-sized lady parts?

It was the first work safe pic I found that also wasn't an imageshack or deviant art pic, that is why.

Give them skirts?

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

I remember seeing someone use this as a necron lord.

The thing is necrons are portrayed as undead skeletal beings and unless we are gettimg into the nitty gritty of hip width and femur length you can't really portray the common trooper as female and get that same necron feel. Even adding metal busts are just going to make things awkward for everyone. I would say as lords and lychguard sure, but beyond that there really isn't anything that would work I think.

Completely agree on troops not being female. They should remain genderless and emotionless. That's the point.

But I would LOVE to see a Female Overlord, or even Cryptek or Lychguard. Maybe base it off this model? http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat570032a&prodId=prod1190067a

The bottom half is just a standard human bikini bottom colored grey/metal. Find some bikini/amazon/slave or whatever sexist/sexy models you can find and but them at the hip.

Then attach Necron torsos. May as well attach arms and guns from Necrons as well. Good enough.

Attach a female head. Paint accordingly.

I'm confused by call for realistic human proportions on an alien army in a fictitious universe populated by a myriad of creatures that defy normal anatomy.

Well, that isn't the point, that is the fluff. They aren't supposed to flowery either but we have Flower Power Necrons on this very site. They didn't used to have Necron Lords with personalities either, or C'tan shards. GW doesn't limit my imagination.

I imagine it would down something like that, though I'll probably avoid the bikini as, at least in my head, they aren't cheesecake Necrons, though I imagine the painting is going to be a big part of pulling it off.

My apologies, your initial post didn't make it clear you were willing to deviate as much as you've expressed from the fluff. I think both flamingwalnut and myself figured you were trying to make female necrons and still retain the grimdark soulessness of the fluff-crons, which may be possible if you can use greenstuff well enough as I don't know of any robotic bitz that would fit the bill.
Regardless, yes 40k is a work of fiction, but like all fiction most of the ideas are taken from the real world so it isn't a stretch (especially for necrons) to compare them to the human skeleton. They may have initially been based off of the terminator, but even that was designed with the human skeleton/body shape in mind. What we are saying is that you might lose that necron feel if you deviate from that skeletal design too far, but if that's what you want then more power to you.

With that out of the way, if you want to make your crons more female, I suppose you could also add green stuff hair, add some busts, and, if you are unwilling to buy new heads, add lipstick around the mouth and eye shadow under the eyes. For flayed ones, you could put them in dresses as instead of flaying your skin and wearing it, they take your clothes (or they just mistook someones clothes' line for a place where humans hang their "flesh" to dry).

It will be interesting to see what you come up with either way (i.e. if you are trying to retain their grim-darkness or not). Looking forward to some pics of the end product and best of luck to you.

I would try to make necrons sleeker. Trimmin down rib cage and legs would help a lot. Also maybe adding A sized boobs could help.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Actually as they're skeletons the correct way would be to restructure the pelvic area and the ribcage to give the basic appearance of the female skeletal structure. Won't be exact but it should be convincing enough to most.

That would probably be the way to go unless you take it a step further beyond the skeleton and add some muscle. (i.e. do them up like a female mannequin). I'd say that would be pretty awesome. Who wouldn't be afraid of an army of angry mannequins?

or like this with more pronounced curves perhaps.

Can I be equally confused with your need to assign genders found in terrestial life to extra-terrestial entities? We can go a step further too

Given that early life on this planet was insectoid or reptilian, we can assume the Necron base race was one of these two. Since the competing race, the Slann, are reptilian, we can therefore assume the Necrons were insectoid, albiet bipedal and wingless. Since most communal insects consist largely of female drones with a few Male consorts and a Queen, it stands to reason the ALL Necron Rank and File units are in fact female, but thier insectoid nature negates the need for mammalian genitalia that your kind (humans) associate with the gender.

EDIT: this also explains why they all like pink, flowers, and hello kitty
