Okay so here's pickle. I have a nurgle style soulgrinder. Forge world makes one called the plague hulk. However its the Nurgle Plague Hulk thus counting towards the Epidemius tally. Now, what if I have a Nurgle soulgrinder and I only use it for Nurgle lists; I have 4 others each for a different god. Would it count for the tally like the Plague hulk does?

let me know what you think?

Not sure that would work, nurgle-looking or not..

I'll have to take a look at my dex, but i think Souldgrinders are supposed to have renounced their previous loyalty when they became grinders, regardless of the daemon that became one?

I think Plague Hulks dodge this fluff proviso..

I would allow it, but then I allowed my WBBing Necrons to count as a kill for each time they went down, too.

I would up against an all-nurgle army that was utterly powered up from Tally, without having actually lost a model

In tournaments here that question came up and they said no since it doesn't mention nurgle or have nurgle in the name like nurgling, plague bearer or have mark of nurgle.

The enemy of my enemy is a bastard so lets kill him too.

No, as the SG is not marked to Nurgle

But of course, why would it not?

Unfortunately just because it's called something, that doesn't mean rules effect it. Just because I'm running nurgle dreads, saying they are nurgle dreads, they don't get any bonuses. A soul grinder is still a soul grinder, regardless of the fancy bells, whistles and conversions as far as your army list goes.

So essentially, if I call my Nurgle Grinder a Plague Hulk, and follow the data sheet for the Plague Hulk, it counts toward the tally.

Its like I call my apple an orange and suddenly I can make orange juice.

Not really.

It's more like transmuting your apple into an orange, and making a refreshing morning beverage.

A plague hulk isn't the same as a Soulgrinder, just like a Defiler isn't a Soul Grinder. despite being very similar.

If you are using the model to represent the soul grinder profile, no, you cannot add to the tally.

Now if your using the plague hulk datasheet, that's different. My questions is this: Does the datasheet have the mark of nurgle on it, and/or is it called a demon of nurgle? If so, then yes it could count.

Its called the Plague Hulk of Nurgle, has the 'daemonic' special rule and has a bunch of fluff saying its a mixture of daemon and vehicle.

Given the precedent set by what constitutes a Daemon in the GK FAQ, I think its safe to say that a Plague Hulk would count as a follower of Nurgle.

I only said "could" because you never know what a TO is gonna say about the matter. I personally would let it count, if that means anything.

That's specifically wrong. See the Daemon FAQ:

"Q: When do models with an ability that can bring them
back after they loose their last Wound count towards
The Tally of Pestilence? (p52)
A: Only once they are finally removed from the game,
after failing to come back."
