So, Its been a few days since I posted a List, I figured I'm allowed to do so (mentally) again.

I've been bouncing around a 1000pt space marine list to play faster/casual games, and here's what I came up with:

HQ:

Librarian – Force Weapon, Bolt Pistol, Power Armour - 100pts

Troops:

Scouts - 9x Sniper Rifle, Missile Launcher - 150pts

Tactical 1 - 250pts

Combat Squad 1: 3x Bolter, 1x Melta Gun, Sergeant (BP/CCW), Razorback with TL Lascannon
Combat Squad 2: 4x Bolter, 1x Missile Launcher

Tactical 2 - 250pts

Combat Squad 3: 3x Bolter, 1x Melta Gun, Sergeant (BP/CCW), Razorback with TL Ass. Cannon
Combat Squad 4: 4x Bolter, 1x Missile Launcher

Heavy:

Vindicator - Siege Shield - 125pts

Vindicator - Siege Shield - 125pts

Total: 1000pts

Razorback 2 has an Assault Cannon because I dont have a second TL Lascannon yet,. >.>

I take it as a given that marines struggle at low points: you've made a very reasonable list.

Telion is awesome and scouts are not killy enough without him, for the 1000 pts anyway.

You have 2 solid Troop choices, scouts are not needed. You can invest in a more 'killy' squad with that 150 points.

I like this list alot, including the scouts.

MFletch and Zambro are right, scouts can be good, but at this point value, you might be better served by spending those last 150 points somewhere else. Perhaps razorbacks for your other two combat squads, maybe some assault marines, or, if you want to be pure evil, a third vindicator. Can you imagine how devasting three vindicators would be at a 1000 points?

+1 to another vindicator ...you evil devil lol

alternatively, you can get a TFC to thin down hordes better.

Agreed on the vindicator, or 2 razorbacks instead of scouts. It was the first thing that crossed my mind.

Can you take more than one dedicated transport for a single squad? I thought the limit is one per squad, since Combat Squads are just one squad broken down into two as a space marine special rule...

What would you guys suggest throwing the left over 25pts into, if I where to throw a third vindicator into that 1000pt list?

Only one DT per unit, unfortunately. Sorry, been reviewing several lists, thought this was one without DT's for those tacs.

Oh, several options on the 25 points.

I'm up for combi-weapons, myself. I know you don't like them, and 10 points for a single shot is steep.

Upgrading the heavy weapons might not be a bad idea. A plasma cannon, lascannon.

Piggybacking on the idea to drop the scouts, with those 150 points.
You could probably grab some Land Speeders with multi-meltas as an armor counter, and then use the vindicators to counter hordes, and then as a backup for the armor question.

Yeah, I've been looking into getting Land Speeders, figuring getting 2 for 60pts each could lead to some tanks crapping themselves...

Agree with dropping scouts for speeders OR attack bikes. You can have three of those and they're easier to hide.

Attack bikes are easier to hide and cheaper, but aren't quite as durable. It's preference.

Two Landspeeders are also cheaper cash wise than 3 attack bikes.

Unless I can find a good deal on Ebay, of course.

Yeah, now that you mention it a pair of multi melta equipped land speeders would be pretty scary. Plus that means that you can use the leftover 30 points for some extra wargear. A power weapon on each of your tactical squads sergeants is conveniently 30 points.

Hmm. I like the way you've started it, but I think there are more cost efficient choices in the codex at this points level. I would do something like this:

Librarian (Avenger, Vortex of Doom) - 100
Dreadnought - 105
Dreadnought - 105
Tactical Squad, Meltagun, Missile launcher, Rhino - 210
Tactical Squad, Meltagun, Missile launcher, Rhino - 210
Attack Bike, Multi-Melta - 50
Attack Bike, Multi-Melta - 50
Predator, Heavy Bolter Sponsons - 85
Predator, Heavy Bolter Sponsons - 85
Total: 1000

That's 6 vehicles and 6 different units with Melta for mech, while the Predators put out a very nice amount of anti-infantry for their cost.

The attack bikes and dreadnoughts hide/run behind the Rhinos until they are in range (which should be turn 2).

I personally detest Predators, when I used to run them they did nothing for me but miss a whole lot. Vindicators, despite their blast template, have been more reliable and can cause a lot more fear/damage for only slightly more points. Not to mention, Dreadnoughts without transports are deadnoughts.

I'd drop that extra speeder, throw two heavy flamers on the underside of each other the land speeders, so they can be dual purposed to fight Horde armies and Mech Armies. I'd then take 20 of those points i saved (out of 30) and sprinkle it on the Vindicators so they can drive into cover and shell away. The last 10 pts could be spent on Melta Bombs for the sergeants? Hmm...

Arcturus215 wrote:10 men won't fit in a razorback

That's true, but you can combat squad the squads and stuff the combat squad with a meltagun / sergeant into a rhino (maybe even with the librarian) and drive them into battle.

as Crazyterran pointed out, a combat squad would go into the razorback, specifically the part with the meltagun and the sgt would be in the razorbacks for each squad.

Crazyterran wrote:I'd drop that extra speeder, throw two heavy flamers on the underside of each other the land speeders, so they can be dual purposed to fight Horde armies and Mech Armies.

Fair enough, to be honest that is how I normally run them (2 mm/hf) I just threw the third one in there because I had 50 pts left over and didn't want to throw the flamer on what I normally use as a suicide unit.. However for the sake of dealing with hordes (If I knew I was facing a horde player or in a tournament I would definitely throw the heavy flamer on there). with the left over points I would probably throw the dozer blade on the vindicators as well and maybe throw a combi-weapon on a sgt just for a bit of redundancy.

EDIT: Dozer blades are only 5 pts. so you would have 20 points extra not 10.

I use Siege Shields on my Vindicators, so I don't even have to roll for terrain.

I dont have any combi weapons modeled onto my sergeants, though, later, i might cut off their bolt pistols and make it a combi melta.

I also generally try to make sergeants as bare as possible, for, in the end, a Sergeant with a power fist is still going to get just as dead if the squad gets mobbed.

Aaah I see it now. Yes that would be a much better choice Also I am not a fan of the pf on sgts and tend to keep them bare as well. I was just throwing out taking a combi-weapon as a potential option to fill out that last 10 pts.

True, true. I was thinking melta bombs, since, if you are within 6" to melta the bugger, charging it with krak grenades afterwards can't hurt, since you always strike rear armour.
