Just to clarify, if the model the line is touching is in a unit, the unit takes the hit with regular ability to allocate the wound. The weapon is specifically worded to disallow sniping of particular models in a unit.

The wording does lead to some other problems. When I first read it, I thought that any unit hit took wounds equal to the number of models in the unit. Hopefully you aren't suffering from similar confusion.
