so i was talking to a friend of mine who said that the 6th edition would be the last edition released. i dont think that thats true, but i really dont know. is it true or not?

As was discussed on here before the New edition is supposed to be in play for 8 years..... if we are to believe they are doing codex updates etc constantly using pdf, errata and faq updates online.... This would make the core rules stagnant.

I do not see them NEVER doing a 7E though... I m just hoping that it is true that they will do what I said above.

Longer stinits with current rules for EVERY race would be fantastic.

Simple math shows that not to be the case, we've had 5 editions, and are on the cusp of the 6th right as the game celebrates it's 25th anniversary.
Rogue Trader released1987
Second Edition released 1993
Third Edition released 1998
Fourth Edition released 2004
Fifth Edition released 2008

It would be nice if it were the last edition, but it won't be. GW sustains itself by re-releasing new sculpts and new rules, and will continue to re-release the rules.

Six, five, six, four and four (or maybe five) years between editions. While I don't like to have to buy new rules every so often either, they at least maintain a fair rate of consistency. Pushing the new one to eight years would be expecting a bit much, given the past. That being said, I can't really lose with a new edition, since I only play two armies. Space Marines are going to be one of the first new Codices of any edition, in the off chance that they aren't the very first. And Tau haven't had a current Codex all through this edition anyway. So I'm not really missing out on a whole lot there.

OP - Thats from the Heretics edition. The claim with that, was it would be a permament edition.

Those rumours for the most part are looking highly unlikely to be accurate now.

There's rumors that it's meant to be an edition that will last for longer. Not claims that it would be permanent mind you, just longer lasting than 4th or 5th. I hope so, but there's no way to know.
