I was just looking at the user info under my avatar, realised how cluttered it is and came to the following conclusions:

Is it possible to remove the time (not date) that the user joined, this information seems pretty excessive?

Is it possible to delete the article count, and indeed the articles it is counting?

On a boat, Trying not to die.

Sadly you can't.

And yes, it does get cluttered after around 3k posts.

More customization options for that area would be nice, after all it's the first impression people get of you.

I don't know about that - the first impression I get of most people is what they say in their post, then their avatar, then their name. I rarely look at the rest of the information around the avatar.

I agree; article edits, gallery votes, gallery images and specific time joined are somewhat OTT.

Perhaps have them on display on your profile page rather than every post?

I don't mind having that information there - the clickable links are good, as is the location (sometimes anyway ). I like being able to jump straight to any articles/images people have added if they make a good P&M post, or post a good image.

Just seems a little cluttered to me, especially when people have lengthy locations.

I have got to agree with the OP

@n0t_u, the time that comes up is different for us, because of the time zone we selected

I think the images, gallery votes, and other things are very important. If nothing else, they help guilt people into contributing to the other parts of Dakka.

The exact time someone joined could be dropped, but that's about it. I could also see limiting people's "Locations" or outright barring anything that isn't a real place.

I have an awesome location but I wouldn't mind if it linked to the Dakka FLGS map instead.

Two thirds of your short posts are empty space because of that bumf down the side. You should make longer posts to fill in the extra space you have been allotted by fate. That is why the bumf is long in you.

And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" Mario Savio

Imagine all that empty space suddenly went away....dakka'd be very hard to read, and your eyes'd get very tired after a short time. You actually need empty space when reading texts......

Sometimes there is empty space, even when there are words to fill the gap. But I follow your meaning, especially from one with such a large and impressive ...signature.

But truly, does one really need the time to the nearest minute of joining? Are there any discussions about seniority that require such a fine measure? Can it be used to measure the man? "Ooh, he joined mid-afternoon, I bet he hasn't got a job." ?

You should see all the junk mods and admins see there

Trimming your location down is all I can suggest. The other stuff is needed to show seniority and to constantly keep the other sections of the site in people's minds (as well as providing easy links to their images and article work).
