So I've decided my next army will be either Beastmen or Skaven. It came to me that I want to play some evil animals. But I'm having a tough time deciding which army to pick!

I'm pretty aware of their placement on the competitive hierarchy, fluff, play style, etc. I'm just curious what the other Dakkaites thought! Which fuzzy evil creatures do you guys prefer, all things considered?

currently playing: ASoIaF | Warhammer 40k: Kill Team

other favorites:
FO:WW | RUMBLESLAM | WarmaHordes | Carnevale | Infinity | Warcry | Wrath of Kings

I placed 3rd at our last COC with Beastmen so I would say beastmen. We have a great range and can be a very strong army in the right hands.

Skaven mostly because they make me laugh!
But both are fine choices to be honest.

Picked Skaven, but I play and enjoy both armies.

I greatly enjoy the warp-"steampunk" feel of much of the Skaven design, and things like the Doomwheel remain one of my favorite unit concepts.

I have both ummmm.... Skaven if you want random fun and lots of toys, you will also need a ton of models to paint.
Beastmen if you enjoy barely having a shooting phase and love magic and combat domination.

Overall if I had to pick, Beastmen, Primal Fury is the best rule in the game, they are rare in most gaming groups and I like the bigger models.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

I hate rats. But Skaven have SOOO many more options IMHO. Just some wacky rules and units. And it wouldn't take you a lot (in terms of RL money) to add new flavors and keep expanding. Grab an Assassin. Or a Warpfire Thrower. Or whatever.

Beastmen, I like their look and how the army playes. I also tend to do well with them whenever I field them

Skaven definately.
Wicked, backstabbing mad scientists?
Yes please.

Skaven, just because you can chitter "Kill-Kill!" whenever you charge, and you can betray your allies whenever you feel like it.
If it was up to me, some form of undead. Preferably Tomb Kings.

As the Supreme Lord of the Undead, my life gets a bit boring with all the brooding and the planning and the scheming to end all life on the planet, so I like to relax and watch My Little Pony.

Also if you see Arkhan anywhere, tell him he's a useless son of a lich.

Also: GENERATION 9: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment

Skeven, purely from a fluff perspective. Liked reading Gotrek and Felix and reading a section from a skeven perspective. In the fluff beastmen seem boring to me.

I have to go with Beastmen merely because of their following of Chaos (although that seems to be dwindling down given the new book). Some of the models, especially the old ones such as Khornagors, were just too awesome.

I went with Beastmen. I would be way more afraid of some mutated goatman covered in blood and feces than rat men.

Beastmen, I like Brutality more than Cunning.

As the person who is doing the commission for Dr. Cheesesteak, I can tell you that he went with beastmen.

You can follow the progress of his army in my blog
