I have had no problems getting the transfers to stick on the shoulder pads wrinkle free but when they dry they are a little to shiny in the areas that are clear as Im putting them on black shoulder pads. I tried a wash of badab, I tried to let the transfers soak longer then the 30 sec in water and still its shiny. If anyone has any ideas other then buy some microsol/set I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

You could put on a thin coat of PVA/Elmers glue mixed with water. That will protect it and dull the shine.

I have yet to spray the models with clear coat maybe it will dull it down some. Just trying to hold off spraying untill i get the bases the way I want them. Thanks for the tip.

If you don't have microsol, I'd try Gundor's recommendation. You can also try 'Ardcoat over the area (which adds a little protection from the transfers lifting), but it will leave it even more glossy so you'd need to hit it with a matte spray coat afterwards

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

I always used to put a gloss coat of primer on, followed by a matte coat. That dulled the shine considerably, in my opinion.

I've heard that vinegar is a good substitute for decal setters.

Not every shadow, but any shadow

I always make sure I cut the decals as close as I can, then a dull coat takes care of the rest.

Personally I always put a coat of Vallejo Matt Varnish, by brush, on the decals after the microsol treatment has dried. Kills off the shine nicely.

Thanks for the tips, will try. Anyone know if hobbylobby has microsol/set?

This is a tutorial showing my usual practice for decals and answers most of the questions (other than where to buy Microsol etc):
